from chin def, no url link though, but still interesting
MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax-AVN) – Russia may sign the contract for the supplies of RD-93 aircraft engines to China within the next three to six months, a source in the Russian defense industry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
“The RD-93 aircraft engine is a modification of the RD-33 engine that powers MIG-29 Fulcrum fighters. It is fully tested and ready for mass production,” the source said.
According to him, the contract will provide for supplying the engines, not for their license production. “It implies hundreds of engines, but the first batch may be relatively small,” he said.
“The RD-93 aircraft engine is derived from the mass-produced RD-33 of Series Three, but its accessory gear box is positioned lower, and there are some other differences as well,” the source noted.
RD-93 is intended for powering China’s FC-1 (Super-7) fighter. The first batch of 100 engines is likely to be supplied from Russia, while the program provides for procuring 500 engines. It is not ruled out that China will later ask for fitting the RD-93 engine with a hinged nozzle that is currently being tested on the MG-29OVT prototype.
The FC-1 development program involves China, Pakistan, Israel and Russia.
self moderated
From Asif overhauling of F-7p

thats more further away then the coming years you predict ;). its perhaps over 50 years good enough for rockets in space, doubt it will be used in de comming 100 years inside the atmosphere itself for propellant.
WAT!? LOL! Why would Pakistan warn Israel..both the countries have no hostilities…the word “warn” fits no where apart from the reporter’s head!
Israel would do the same if pakistan started to exports its systems to there
got them from another aviation site, (Al Ain Aerobatics Show 2005)

Mi-17

hey i found a weird pic on the net, can someone identify the plane to which this cockpit (right one) belongs ? Its saying the fc-1 but have my doubts, since the ac is to fly from this april, i believe, with cockpit and weapons testing etc. Looking at the right panel i first thought it was PSd , but am not sure. i am not that much of an expert on that.

I think the Chinese just couldn’t stand the J-10 fuselage looking like a limp male reproductive organ (I mean, come on look at that curvature on top of it near the tail…) 😀
??? meaning the “aerodynamic” area rule ?, the news seems a bit of “BS”, indeed hard to believe.
Nithin your intentions are well known
Will be nice to see the plane in the netherlands flying in some numbers. 😀 a good choice.
whatever does THAT mean ? 😛 😀
agitated. i am fast typer so spellings errors bound to happen 😀 but thats not so relevant if you get the point of the message. 😉
Nithin surely you have enough brains to understand what i was meaning 😉
About those engines i was just commeneting on this sentence of yours “What happened to all the US ally thang you keep telling us about?”, but never mind. lets move on.
Nithin Disecting every word/sentence if you have nothing to add is not usefull. It will only adjetate people, lets not go there. thank you.
Even being an ally of the US, Pakistan Knows the consequentions for relying to much on the K8 vital equipment. But whats wrong with 40 K8’s ? its a good number now the Fc-1B (2 seater) version will come and also be used as advanced training platform.
