    American Turret

    Wulfie,
Are we talking turrets from any aircraft? I believe a B-17 top turret is still in private hands up here in the north-west.Pretty much complete i believe.

I have no preference for seeing the Halifax “as is” or restored but what I found confusing was (if my memory serves me correctly) the turrets HAD been restored.
I’d say all or nothing – anything else just isn’t right.

    Bazza,
One of the engines has been restored to pristine condition. If i remember rightly, the Midway Aircraft Preservation Society were responsible for a fantastic job over a few years. They said that the oil they found in it was as good today as it was when it was first put in the engine. If they were allowed to do one,let them do them all!!!

in an ideal world they would be displayed on a purpose built dock, indoors with lights and sounds and perhaps back projections showing period footage. Which would cost a fraction of the money they want to spend on the new BOB tower. I do hope that idiotic plan gets dropped – they could buy a new airfield for that kind of money.

    SADSACK,
Well said.Totally agree with you 100%

I wish they would open up the ships, or get them under cover. Its hard to appreciate them looking up at them in the car park.

When i went on sunday, both ships had sheets over them!!! You could always inspect the hull!!!
