LOL, It’s 21st century, man. Beating an old coffin from the 50s like MiG-21 is, that is truly a hilarious achievement!
BTW, Chinese stuff is only interesting in medium or low-tech. Hi-tech stuff is either nonexistant or hilariously expensive. Some time ago I have tried to purchase a pair of Chinese license produced Night Vision goggles TK-1 SuperGen (something between Gen2+ and Gen3) only to find out that they were more than twice as expensive as the original LZOS ONV-2/Newcon NVS-7. Bloody annoying.
did you know night google and fighter jet is different things?
I buy car and American car is cheap but American Jet is so expensive.
anyway why you buy night google for? what you trying to look at night? owl?
The Su-27K was chosen over the MiG-29K in part due to economics (one carrier, one fast jet type onboard) and in part due to the massive political clout that Sukhoi enjoyed at the time. If you compared the Su-27K with the MiG-29K, you’d find the MiG-29K to be a shorter ranged but far more versatile aircraft.
but range is 100% big thing in carrier fighting. what good is short range fighter in a big sea. MiG-29K will have to carry more fuel tank and sacrifice war load.
it is like you want F-16C for carrier over F-14. MiG-29 is like Russia’s F-18E.
Don’t even try to get into a topic you got no basic knowledge about. The big tank you mention is a bolt-on conformal tank – two Yemeni hillbillies with a screwdriver can put it on or remove it within twenty minutes. The fact that it does not appear on the photos from MAKS says less than nothing. I suggest you do your homework prior to getting into severe details.
Exactly what better aircraft are those? Like Hornets? You cannot simply switch a Hornet pilot to Fulcrum from one day to another.
Malaysia is lacking Fulcrum pilots for four reasons and none of them is related to MiG-29 in any way:
– lack of sufficient numbers of trainers like Macchi MB-339
– shortcomings in the TUDM training programme
– preserved pilots for incoming Su-30MKM
– many Fulcrum pilots left for service in low-cost aviation carriers like Air Asia
thank you, so you know also if they have the chance, every air force use Russian rather go for Su-30 series than MiG-29. Even Russian Navy prefer Su-30 series than miG-29.
oh, also you do not have proofs of two Yemeni people can detach the tank, it is just claim from some news site, there is no such thing. if you believe such things, show proof that it can be remove so easily.
I’m referring to the model shown in Post #25, not the front view shown in the LCD. There are four nice large spots on the airframe that, from a head-on aspect, will be great radar reflectors for travelling waves.
so what make you think the Russian Mig is not same? it has big hole for air and big pylon for weapons, you say so yourself it look like the animation. so you capico?
No he is just a chinese who can’t comprehend that the Mig-29 is a better plane than the crappy J-10 and FC-1. It is quiet evident from his posts.
now we see what kind of person you are, angry boy blinded by Indian nationalism.
now let us have some science and reality
this is MiG-29SMT
it only have 3 pylon on each wing and the center pylon. not different from regular MiG-29 lay out but just have big tank on the back. you put on two big fuel tank like this..
it become a flying tanker like KC-135 or F-18E
but Yemen they buy this one
no big tank on the back, so same gas problem, same need to carry more gas tank, not much weapon load you can carry. you buy this aircraft and it become a tanker.
do not bring Malaysia here. They have pilot shortage yes, that is why they prefer to keep pilot on better aircraft and put in storage the more useless one. you may say MiG-29 keep crashing alot because of bad pilots and tatic, but you will never find way for the MiG-29 to be used in the right tactic because in a war, it is never like that. It is like saying a Knight is good only if the barbarian do not have weapon to fight back with, and is sleeping and tied down to the grass.
The “orginal” design was conceived as a fifth generation fighter. Whether or not the Chinese “design” pictured here is fifth generation is yet to be seen.
no no, not this picture, the other one that even have wind tunnel test.
You know the one, it looks an awful lot like the first picture in this thread…
what make you think that one is 5th generation fighter?
IDF is impresive aircraft. The Chinese of Taiwan make something that only Korea make almost 10 year later, and almost as goood as Sweden Gripen. If PRC have acess to similar technology at the same time, PRC could make something like IDF in the 1980s too. very shameful two countries have two different political leader.
Russia’s 5th generation fighter demonstrator was virtually complete in 1992. Another 5th generation technology demonstrator was airborne in 1997. China might be “next”, but they aren’t beating the Russians to a single thing unless the J-XX is in actual service ahead of the PAK-FA.
S-37 is not stealth fighter if you thinking that one. if not then show me which one you talking about.
No, at least Russians are leading China in Aviation engine development area, They can mature the T/W 10 grade engine faster than Chinese if they want. T/W 10 grade engine should be one important benchmark of Gen5 fighter.
Chinese next generation T/W 10 grade engine still in core engine development stage, at least 10 years away from service.
maybe you is right there.. but China lead the way in micro processors you need for AESA radar. it may fall be hind in one area, but lead in other.
Competition still alive.
Undiluted GLONASS from 2007 on.
but Russia do not have Kazakistan to use anymore, so fees to send civilian product up will be required from both country. not cheap. Other Russia launch pad is in cold areas. China can send them from sunny Xinjiang. it is the area you see in Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon where the barbarain lives. good place for rocket sending. cheaper too.
Funny……that instrument panel looks familiar……
If this thing actually flies in 5 years I’ll be quite shocked.
There’s a bigger chance of the Russian PAK-FA project being on time than this thing working out……I mean the J-10 just not got into service in the past year didn’t it?
no, in service longer than that. You forget, Russia only rely on oil and gas for money.. they have hard time giving money to air force to fly right. China have lots of money and money = development of aircraft. we will see China produce the next 5th genaration fighter after US, not Russia, not Europe.
BS as usual. IAF is upgrading the Mig-29’s and IN just ordered new ones and will follow up the order with 30 new ones. Yemen and algeria ordered new SMT’s. Except a few eastern european countries which desperately needed the money and a seal of approval from NATO, no one has got rid of Mig-29’s for F-16’s.
your example is not good because the country you say have no choice. What other airplane can Indai use on Gorshkov that do not need catapult? just MiG-29K and Harrier
What western country will sell latest fighter to Algeria? Just Russia
what airplane can Yemen afford? Just Russia
Country where they have more options.. they buy others
Bangladesh – got rid of MiG-29 and go for Chinese because it is easy to fly and cheap to operate
Malaysia – priority go to F-18E and Su-30, not MiG-29
India – prefer Mirage 2000 and Su-30
Poland – prefer brand new F-16
and they say MiG-29 suck because the user did not use it like how it is supposed to be use.. so i ask you how is it suppose to be use eh?
why do GarrbyB make no sense.
he say:
rough field = carrier landing runway
but
rough field = some grass, some dirt, bad pavement, but do not move
carrier runway = no grass, no dirt, but move up and down because of the ocean
but he also say
Some MiG-29SMT = MiG-29M
so Farmborugh MiG-29SMT = MiG-29M.

Because the MiG-21 isn’t in production any more.
It’s not the same thing. Chinese products (ranging from T-shirts to fighter planes) are cheaper, but of lower quality.
But this is not the point here. The point is that Greece already has in service SAMs in the same class as the ones currently produced by China (as I was pointing out in my previous post), so there is no point in buying a redundant system, no matter how cheap it is.I am using my brain, unfortunatly the same thing cannot be said about you.
you have proof current chinese product is lower quality? sound like you are not using the brain of yours. Go compare WS-10 engine with AL-31 or newest J-7 with MiG-21
