Is there something written on the mae west the guy standing to the left of the nose is wearing?
And can you tell if those are “Canada” flashes on the shoulders? Couldn’t tell when I tried to magnify the scan.
Yes Dan it does say “Canada” the guy with the arrow is P/O William Henry Tape RCAF, killed 28/12/1942 serving with 152 Squadron, But I don’t think the photo is 152 Sqn.
Cheers
Rob.
Great set of photos, like the photo of UM-E in the air, I’ve sent you a message.
Cheers Rob…
Hi Andy, yeah that’s the one, I’ve been talking to some of the 152 Guys still left and one sent me a photo copy of that picture, It looks to be SGT Zig Klein to me.
Would you say it’s the same person ??
Cheers

Rob….
Photo No.1 has F/L Peter Howard-Williams on the right. I think the other pilot might be F/L J.C. Robson (both of 118 Sqn).
Bunny Currant is in the centre of photo No.2 and the pilot he is facing looks rather like Sgt Stan Jones DFM (again both from 118). Currant is also on the right of photo No.3.
The pilot on the right of photo No.5 is possibly F/L T.W. ‘Jock’ Gillen.
Peter
The one on the end (Righthand Side) is P/O T.W.Gillen with 152 Squadron in 1939, just thought it might help to identify the Pilot in photo 5.
Cheers
Rob…
A few of mine
Sorry about the dust….
152 Squadron Spitfire MkVIII based at Sinthe, central Burma. Almost certainly following a raid from the Japs on the 14th February 1945. The Squadron suffered 9 KIA and 30+ WIA and several destroyed and damaged aircraft.
113 Squadron(http://113squadron.com/) never visited Sinthe, the only connections I can see is that thay were at the same airfields Palel, may 1944 – July 1944 & Zayatkwin, Aug 1945 – Sept 1945. I understand the Japs sneaked in to dispersal area of the squadrons while at Palel and planted sticky bombs on 7 aircraft destroying them. So maybe this is the result of that attack.
