I very much regret to inform you that Military Regulations state that the RAF Ensign should never be used to place over a coffin; only the Union Flag (for a serving member of the RAF or other service) should be used, so the EBay seller is presumably not aware of this. I have however seen the RAFA Ensign used but that is not the same as the RAF Ensign. As a serving RAF Officer I have to say that these are the current regulations regarding the RAF Ensign. You should be OK with the RAFA Ensign however. My sincere condolences regarding your late friend WO Gray, to reach the highest rank of airman is no mean feat.
Hi Ted I’ve just spoken to RAFA and they said the same thing, I apologize for calling it a flag, also RAFA are going to see if something can be done, So I would like to thank you all for your advice.
Cheers

No problem loading or playing the Ray’s story sound page on an 8MB ADSL broadband connection, Rob. The Links (banner) page loaded slower than that.
The only puzzle I had was that on that page he’s RJ Johnson but RH Johnson on his text page.
Minor point: for some reason you’ve chosen to put them as separate pages, the text one under the Your Memories heading, the other under Info. Would a single page be better? Or at least under the same heading?
Your 152 Squadron site is a good one, Rob, rich with content. Too good to lose if ever you have to cease your careful toiling, it’s surely another candidate for archival preservation. You might want to nominate it, through the UK Web Archiving Consortium http://www.webarchive.org.uk/.

Hi Don
Thanks for your reply, The top one was my mistake 😡 but I’ve changed it now. The reason for the separate pages is to keep all ex-members Memories together, also when I first published the site Ray’s Story was not on there. I hope this clears that one up for you. I might look into the web Archiving Consortium, but as long as I’m around I will keep it going.
Many Thanks
Rob….
Fantastic piece of footage, that 🙂
Did you see this clip ?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OF0v1dwYC8

Where will all these veterans be? Is there a Victory Books marquee or what? Their website doesn’t say.
Hi Steve theres a marquee next to the control tower should be a spit outside, lets hope the weather is ok.

I would like to add, my connection with this is that I’m hoping to bring 10 spitfire pilots (who flew between 1940 – 1946) & a member of Groundcrew, from 152 (Hyderabad) Squadron. Also I’m reuniting three old friends who have not seen each other since 1946. I’m hoping this will be the biggest reunion since about 1948, & well maybe the last time this fine bunch of gentlemen get together.
Many Thanks

I would like to take this opportunity if I may to public Apologize to Mr Andy Saunders for the comments I wrote with reference to Medals given to him by Mrs Akroyd on The EBay Alert -RAF Tangmere Sign Posting. After speaking to Mr Saunders today I now have a clear picture of the situation. And maybe next time I will think before I write. I would also like to Apologize to any of Mr Saunders friends for bad mouthing him.
