SAMs can’t replace fighter jets. Otherwise every country would just replace its fighters with SAMs.
No one bought an S-400 so we don’t know how much it would cost. Based on S-300 sales to China, the latest version of the S-300 costs around $900 million but that’s probably because China has some kind of military agreement with Russia that reduced the cost.
Some parts were already built like the cockpit. Here is the cockpit:
10m Euros is what has been allocated so far, not necessarily the total cost. The total cost depends on the type of modernization, yet to be decided. For 10 m Euros, we get complete overhaul of the Migs, overhaul of a An-26, and minor modernization of the Migs (new communication, navigation, and IFF). If they decide to dish out more money then there will be a better modernization. There was also talk of acquiring more Migs but nothing has been decided.
Does the Mig-29S have CCIP?
Same thing… TJ knew in advance the guy wouldn’t know, and then he could make himself look smart and Serbs look stupid by correcting him. The question was intended to provoke in order to turn this into another Serb-bashing thread. Same thing in this thread.
Why is it that every topic about Serbia has to be turned into how many planes were shot down in Allied Force? It happens every couple of months… Some Serb kid who knows nothing about aviation comes along and then some clown like this TJ character provokes him with “how many planes you think were shot down” knowing in advance he’s a kid who knows next to nothing about aviation, and then they think they’re smart when they get to correct him and make fun of Serbs. I suggest that all posts not related to the topic here (upgrade of Mig-29’s) be deleted.
TEEJ,
I think 27 L-18s survived the conflict in 1999 and I also think 8 B-2’s and a B-1 were shot down.
Maybe even more important than the Fulcrum modernization, was the announcment that in 2006 there will be a massive increase in the amount of fuel bought for the airforce to bring the pilots’ flying hours up to decent levels. They said 4000-5000 tons of fuel for 2006 which is way better than any year recently.
I’m hoping that it does come to war, just for my amusement. Does that make me a bad person?
Has it occured to you that Russia is building nukes not to fight the US, but someone else? For example, China will run out of space and resources in a few decades, and sparse Russia is looking pretty good.

It can’t be that out of 133 Mirage F1s not a single one survives in at least restorable condition?
Who cares what its western name is? Just call the damn thing by its Russian name and save yourselves a lot of confusion.
