As I understand it, all the Lightnings will be owned by the RAF. 809 NAS will operate an unknown number of them (I’m guessing between 8 and 12) and will be based with the rest of the RAF machines at Marham. I’m not sure the two ships will have “air groups” in the US Nany sense but will rather continue the “Tailored Air Group” concept with different types of aircraft being assigned depending on mission.
