Very sad indeed. I first met Paul when he started up Warbirds Worldwide and still have every issue and the Specials. And a signed book on Pauls favourite subject, Mustang Survivors, which he signed for me at Biggin Hill in 1987.

I remember well the small Warbirds Worldwide ‘convention’ he organised in the officers mess at Duxford in June 1989 and the talk by Anders Saether on his A26.
Then we got our own private airshow.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Seamew info

I’ve recently built the Czech Model kit of this aircraft (albeit in US Navy markings) and found the Naval Fighters book by Steve Ginter very useful. It also features photos of a Royal Navy aircraft and details the markings but unfortunately no serial listing. You can see the serial on one though which is FN489 and a drawing which is FN628 of 755 Squadron.
Hope this helps.

Geoff,

Quite probable, especially if location is Blackbushe.

Gorgeous George-Ann was 151632, 151863 was Big Bad Bonnie, 151790 was Amazing Andrea, not sure about Brenda’s Boys & Marvellous Miriam

‘George-Ann was in reality N9494Z/ G-BWGR latterly of Sandtoft fame.

Anyone got ’Mitchells do fly in IMC’…?

Yes Dave, I’ve got it on Video and DVD. Do you want a copy?

Thanks for the advice guys. I decided to go for it and got a really good deal at our local Currys of all places. Camera, 35-90mm lens, 80-330mm lens and a 1g Fuji card for £550. They also threw in an Olympus picture printer as part of the deal but I don’t think it’ll ever get used.
Roll on Abingdon to give a try. Might pop up to Booker first though to get a feel of it.

Many thanks for the input Geoff, but unfortunately the second number bears no resemblence to the length. I’d already thought of that. Pity. However I’ve tried to take a photo (hopefully attached) but I only have a basic camera. The numbers at the top are in centimetres and the ones at the end relate to the number after the 9003-. They are a dull copper colour though as you say. Again many thanks for helping me out on this and of course for your time.

I was on board her that weekend as well!

What a weekend – a flight in a Dak and an ogle at the KC97 in the static park!

Doesn’t it just bring a lump to the throat……..Thanks for the picture.

There are numbers on the heads as follows;

T J B 9003-105, 9003-68, 9003-60 9003-140 AND 9003-90

There are titanium ( I think) and have quite strange heads on them with 12 ‘flutes’ around the edge and a hole in the middle. Most of the shaft is plain with just the end 6/7mm threaded.
Any help?

Oh yes I remember it well. An Air Anglia DC3 G-AGJV out of Greenham Common July 1974. Anyone know what happened to her?

Just quickly before you go. What Mk is it, how big is it and what colour is it. I may be completely up the wrong tree but I keep seeing an Indian connection?

Only problem is if you intend to watch it at 9pm you’ll just catch the closing credits. I think you’ll find its 8pm. At least it is in the London area.

C-47 ID

I know its not out till next month but the ‘ultimate’ DC3 book should be released then by Air Britain. Maybe there will be some info in that. I have had a look through both of my DC3 Survivors books by Arthur Pearcy but without a little more of the airframe existing its a bit bifficult. Sorry.

I know we’ve seen a couple since but for me as an impressionable 14 year old back in July 1974 was the B24 en route from India flying through Greenham Common late on the Sunday afternoon.

Life is so unfair. How he would have loved to be part of the Spitfire 70th Anniversary celebrations next year. It won’t be the same without him. What about some kind of tribute on the day?? I’m sure its even in hand now. Lets hope so. Condolences to the family.
