Here’s my first car: A Daimler Conquest! Never managed to get it beyond trade plates but had endless fun charging up and down the village high street.
Here’s one of 9Q-CTI taken near Lanseria Johannesburg sometime in the mid nineties. Not my picture – its taken by Mark Wolhuter – I was on the flight deck at the time and spent a week flying with the aeroplane in the DRC some months later – a real adventure. I have a partial panel shot somewhere amongst my slides as well as some photos taken during ops.
Thanks Giel
From the UK but visited the show and am often involved in SA aviation.
The preliminary report was published today:

Erewego!
Photo of XR773 taxiing out for takeoff from TFDC main apron. Mike Beachy Head is the pilot.

Is this a one-off supplement or is it a regular magazine?
here’s one of mine shot on Fujichrome and Nikon 801 (OK it’s not an airshow pic but was a lovely event some years ago: Zimsun Air Rally, Cessna 180 over Lake Kariba).

And what about civilian light aircraft that served during wartime with machine guns attached or makeshift grenade tubes sticking out of the lower fuselage? I know of one aircraft owner who made up a machine gun mount to fire through the removed door of a Reims Rocket during the Rhodesian conflict.
OK, OK, I know 😮
Thanks Phantom Phil. Nah, Only during its last flight and they are frankly awful pictures and I don’t want to upset the sensitive folk on this site.
Imagine an HP.42! That would get me going as well. If they ever find the one that went down in the Gulf…..
Dream on boyo.
Great head’s up T-21. I’ve been around aeroplanes most of my life and whilst it would have been nice to say my first flight was in Leicester Aero Club’s Cessna 150, G-AYPK, it was actually in the Rapide, when I was a sprog with my dad, who was in the RAF.
Thanks T-21. I’ll give that a try.
Shucks! you right Ozplane. Will keep looking.
Thanks a stack T-21. No luck, although I see there was a Rapide, G-ADDI, doing flips at Yeolvilton in 1965. I wonder if this was the same aeroplane.
Has to be a Stuka 😎
Image one of them simulating a dive bombing attack with its siren!
