A vote from me for “Everything But The Flak” – an excellent read.
I also enjoyed “Ragwings And Heavy Iron” which is a collection of accounts of operating/living with Warbirds.
Thanks for the info!
I did visit by air in February on a beautiful clear and sunny (but bitterly cold) day when you were dong a couple of engine runs on one of your Lightnings. I just wasn’t sure whether different rules applied for more formal event days.

Is the grass strip likely to be available for visitors by air?
Anyone else think number three looks like ET? 😀
No, it’s more like Number 5/Johnny Five from Short Circuit (1986)!
DGH – Useful website, keep up the good work!
I also remember a documentary about the Confederate Air Force which was good…
I remember one called “Colonel Culpepper’s Flying Circus” that I would like to see again.
Anyone got a link to a website that sells these Christmas Tree Ornaments?
Beautiful pictures – what was the camera ship?
DeanK – You are not alone!
I enjoyed the series when it was first broadcast and even saw the stage version with original cast members at the Princess Theatre in Torquay, many years ago. Somewhere, I still have my programme which I waited with at the Stage Door to get autographed by some of the cast.
Google threw up this:

Unfortunately, the link doesn’t work as the source has been updated and I can’t find a way of accessing out of date information on the NATS or AIS websites. Any out there got any suggestions?
Congratulations!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us – I am sure that you will be an inspiration to others to pursue their dreams.
My first Oshkosh – certainly a ‘wow’ factor for me!
Shared a School Bus with paulc but didn’t realise until I got back to the U.K. We have since met to compare notes.
I was at the end of a trip around Western Ontario, taking in the Norseman Festival at Red Lake with a good few floatplane flights en-route. Even had the enlightening experience of the right hand seat in a C310 (not on floats!) with only two greens… Happy ending to that tale – fault with microswitch/wiring, only traceable when safely back on the ground.
Having only the Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Oshkosh meant a certain amout of planning and a great deal of walking to try to get the most from my visit. (14.5 miles walked on the Saturday!) I did manage to fly in the Tri-Motor, B-17 and Bell 47 as well as blagging a ride in a Cub on floats. Many, many photos – still not sorted/weeded out into a reasonable length presentation, so friends and relatives are safe for the moment.
This was a trip that I had been promising myself for years – it did not disappoint!
I may drop in on my way to/from Compton Abbas on Sunday – I’ll look out for you and/or your stand.
yes I was – Lamers 876 was the bus number with Beth as the driver. (small world)!
That’s the one – small world indeed! My Popham baseball cap should have given a clue…
Gromit,
I was on the 11.15 flight on the Wednesday. Were you part of an organised tour as I was and had another group join up with us during the week for 3 days?
Yes, I was part of a North-West Ontario tour (Norseman Festival at Red Lake etc.) which joined with a party already at Oshkosh for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the show. Were you on our School Bus with Beth as driver?
