I was on the Thursday 13:45 flight – superb! I also managed, purely by chance, to be in the nose for the pass over Oshkosh. No more pics as Paul obviously has a better camera than my ‘pocket’ digital but no less an experience for that. (And no, I didn’t use the ear-plugs…)
Being something of a gourmand when it comes to vintage flying, I also flew in the EAA Ford Tri-Motor and in one of three EAA Bell 47Gs that were operating from “Pioneer Airport” opposite the EAA Museum.
My first visit to Oshkosh and, with only time for three full days at the show, a veritable assualt on the senses – I think my feet have just about forgiven me now!
Thanks for posting this – I’ve now placed an advance order for my copy!
Janie – You are right about the lurkers!
I should be there for the end of the week (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) with Super Guppy. Now that we know how to track you down, we may well be in touch…
It took you long enough to find us – we’ll have to find somewhere else to hide…
Welcome to the Forum!
Wecome to the Forum Pierre!
I have visited Quiberon on a number of occasions, in a variety of light aircraft, and have always enjoyed the experience. A delightful destination.
Thanks Albert, PM on way.
Albert,
Excellent photos! The new owner has asked me if you maight be able to let him have some higher res. copies. If so, I’ll PM a suitable e-mail address to you.
Thanks Bruce – PM on way.
Stringbag and David – Thanks, PMs duly sent.
Now, about those photos – anyone? (Yes, I have been to Airliners.net, Google, g-info etc. but can’t find much!)
Thanks Coanda,
I had found the first couple of links that you suggest but the Air Britain one was new to me. I’m pretty sure that Shawbury remained active beyond 1972 as I spent a Summer Camp there with the CCF in about 1977 when 8AEF were still operating Chipmunks.
I believe each RAF airframe has/had a record card which may now be archived at Hendon. Am I dreaming this and, if not, how should I go about accessing the information?
Here is another “Grumpy” B-25J to admire:

This is the Canadian Warplane Heritage one at EAA AirVenture 2006, according to the caption on the site that I found it on.
O.K., that was a bit too quick – I can see that it isn’t the one you’re after!
I remember seeing the programme at the time, I’ll have to give it a little more thought and if it filters through I’ll post again.
I think you may be looking for “A Plane is Born” – available from Amazon:
Hope this helps!
Albert,
A couple more suggestions for Corgi:
B-25J N62163 “Killer B” from Tom Reilly’s Flying Tigers Collection and Antony Hodgson’s G-CTIX PT462 “SW-A” (or the Grace Spitfire) Spitfire T Mk.IX.
I would imagine that there would be a modest number of sales to anyone with a connection to or interest in these aircraft.
Plymouth, 1982?
