RIP for the one of the pilots. But very happy to see the other pilot walk away from the accident, a testament to the crash worthiness of the Mi-28 in such a severe impact.
Arent you the same chap who keeps hounding me and calling my posts some sort of a joke? Looks like u provided ur own noose to hang u with
That’s because some of his posts are meant to be funny and a joke, while you take your posts seriously when almost everyone considers them a joke, flights of fantasy or delusions of grandeur.
It expensive to shot down such toys planes. Anyway, it give a reason to shot down anything cross into Indian border.
But a side note, what is the big thing … all countries spy on each other.
Too late I’m afraid, it’s already happening…
CHANDIGARH: The entry and capture of a white pigeon, apparently from across the border, in a border village of Pathankot in Punjab on Thursday has caused a flutter among intelligence sleuths and Punjab Police. This comes two days after an Intelligence Bureau (IB) alert to Punjab Police on the possibility of Indian Mujahideen being active in Jammu and Pathankot areas.
The fact that the avian ‘intruder’ bore a stamped message and had a wire-like object on its body made the security agencies take a closer look at its flight into India. A part of the message was in Urdu, but the numbers appeared to be that of a landline telephone in Pakistan’s Narowal district.
The bird landed at the mud and brick house of barber Ramesh Chandra in Manwal village, 4km from Pakistan border, around 6.30pm on Wednesday. The suspicions of the barber’s 14-year-old son were aroused by the Urdu markings, and he went to the nearest police post around 9pm with the “spy bird”. His arrival there with the bird perched on a wire mesh along with Chandra’s chicken created a stir.
“Unfortunately, mobile phones rarely work in the border areas. My son ran to the nearest police post,” Chandra told TOI.
The cops then took the bird to a veterinary hospital in Pathankot for an X-ray. This did not throw up any clues. “Nothing adverse has been found, but we have kept the bird in our custody,” said Pathankot senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rakesh Kaushal.
“This is a rare instance of a bird from Pakistan being spotted here. We have caught a few spies here. The area is sensitive, given its proximity to Jammu, where infiltration is quite common,” said Kaushal.
Cops at Bamiyal police post made a diary entry terming the bird as a “suspected spy”, and sent a communication to BSF and IB.
The bird was found on a day when an inter-state meeting on security was being held among officials of Punjab Police, Indian Army as well as those from Kathua and Jammu districts.
“It was a meeting to launch joint search and combing operation in the respective areas. The security of Ranjit Sagar Dam was also discussed and decision has been taken to strengthen the security setup in and around the areas,” said Punjab Police inspector general (border range) Ishwar Sharma.
Quite an adventurous design concept, very forward thinking from the Chinese, given their usual conservative approach.
If that pic of the J-16 isn’t a PS job, it’s very impressive and interesting indeed. I count 2x large LGBs, 2x MRAAM, 2x SRAAM, 18x SDB of some kind, and 2x AShM or ARM. Does anyone know what those SDBs, LGBs and AShM/ARMs are?
Apparently Buyan-M is going to be replaced by project 21635.
What kind of vessel is that, OSP? It looks like an armed version of some Oligarch’s yacht.
Its a Greek F-4
Thanks, so it is. I clearly need to either get my eyes checked, or upgrade my monitors.
Any further details behind this pic? I can’t make out the roundel that well, but I’m guessing it’s an IRIAF Phantom taken during the Iraq-Iran war?

Gents, it’s best to stick to the relevant threads when discussing the subject matter, otherwise both threads will become derailed.
And FYI the F-7PGs will be around for a long time.
The PGs will be the last of the F-7s to be retired, given their lower airframe age and relatively more modern airframe compared with the F-7s, but I wouldn’t say “long time”, given the rate of JF-17 production and the extra capability that the JF-17 brings. Some of the older Mirage units have already gone, and assuming the current JF-17 production rate continues, the remainder should be gone by around 2020. I was quite surprised at how quickly the PAF retired the A-5s and pressed the JF-17s into active service in their operations against the Taliban. In my view, the A-5s still had a good few more years left in them, and were ideal CAS platforms with their heavy cannons, armour protection and decent external loads.
I’m quoting this from the PAF thread, as it’s best to discuss the IAF in the IAF thread, and the PAF in the PAF thread, for obvious reasons.
And all the ‘ancient’ types (namely the MiG-21bis & MiG-27) are slated to be retired before the end of the decade.
How can the sizeable Mig-21 and 27 fleets be replaced so quickly before the end of the decade (around 4.5 years now), given that the original MMRCA tender is now dead? There’s no way production of the LCA MKI can be ramped up that quickly, let alone have the production capacity to meet that requirement. That would lead credence to Parrikar’s statement about the 2022 timeframe, when the extra funds from the MMRCA can be diverted to ramp up LCA MKI production, and perhaps speed up the development of the MKII. In any case, it’s clear the Mig-21s and 27s will be around for a while yet, especially given their much “vaunted” capability.
This then begs the question, what possible role is the Rafale intended to fulfil in the IAF? How much of an incremental capability do 36 Rafales provide in the IAF, that isn’t already there? Clearly 36 Rafales does little in the way of bulking up the required numbers, which after all what the LCA was intended to address.
– The IAF’s transport fleet is consolidating on three types (Heavy: C-17, Medium: C-130J, Light: C-295). Or four types, in unlikely event that the MTA development in sanctioned. Tanker & AWACS roles – A330 & ERJ-145.
What about the An-32? Around 100 that are undergoing upgrade?
Why couldn’t this have been posted in the current J-20 or PLAF thread? What’s the point in resurrecting a 14 year old thread!!
:)I think there are even high resolution pics and a video clip. I bet you will regret to spend too much time on them though.
Yes, you’re correct.
