However, the future tactical operational requirement that IAF wants is the capability of facing PLAAF and PAF at the same time if necessary…..

Very unlikely that there will be a hot conflict between three neighbouring nuclear armed states. And quite frankly if there is, conditions would need to deteriorate to such a point that the number of aircraft will be irrelevant.

I don’t get this obsession with squadron numbers. If you’re replacing outdated types with newer generation aircraft with multirole capability, you can do more with fewer aircraft, especially in the modern era of net centric warfare and smart, standoff weapons. The focus should be on attaining more capability, rather than sticking to some archaic squadron number target.

I find the whole “make in India” concept laughable when they can’t even “make in India” the Tejas, which is a “made in India” product! So much for Mohdi’s political slogan when they can’t even show support for their own product. It seems the constant battles between the politicians and the services has created an awful mess in the making, not to mention unnecessarily increasing costs.

    you did your calculations wrong

    dog fight 2.2b / c.16
    long-range fight 2.3 / 2.2

    strike ground targets 4.94 / 1.68
    defense 0.57×2 / 0.96

    the total capacity of w9 / 7.32

    No, no, you have to remember this is a French aircraft vs. an Indian version of a Russian jet, so with that in mind;

Dog fight: “Monsieur, hoo’ar you callin’ a dawg eh?, ar spit in your farce!” / “Sar, vould yoo lick rabies shot? I gibe you berry berry good price!” (you have to imagine the sideways shaking of the head).

Long range fight: “Ar spit in your farce from afar, pew pew!” / “Taxi! vhere is de taxi vallla?”

Strike ground targets: “Strike? wee, we go on strike! no more pew pew until we’ave our demands met!” / “You go on strike? ve can outsauce, I gibe you berry berry good price sar”.

Defence: “Sacre bleu, merd, ar saurrender!” / “Not my responsibility sar, I vill call tech support”.

Corker: Gulf Fighter Sales Will Follow Israeli Aid Deal

Why does the US need to legally ensure Israel’s qualitative conventional edge when Israel is the only nation in the middle East with nuclear weapons?

I’ve often thought this would make an interesting air defence concept – arm either bombers or AWACS platforms with novel long range AAM with at least the same range as the AWACS detection radar and you have yourself a very potent air defence platform. Coupled with IFR, it could provide a long endurance, mobile “SAM in the sky”, so to speak.

So how come Russian/Soviet bombers were required to remove IFR capability while it seems all US bombers retained this capability?

Some years ago a Russian Knights Su-27 made a wheels-up landing during a display at Bratislava after the pilot forgot to lower the undercarriage.

The airframe was later jacked up, the wheels were lowered, a few dents were hammered out and the aircraft returned to Kubinka a few days later.

Those Sukhoi airframes are tough as old boots…..

    PS – Found the video…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPnaBN95Npw

Shouldn’t there be some automated warning letting the pilot know the landing gear isn’t deployed? Impressive design of the Flanker, seems to b redesigned for no wheels landings.

It was a transitioned road.. not an off/on switch from SU melt down to Stronk Putin Russia.
In India case, there was no US of murica for aid.
There was mostly MIG, some frenchies, and later Sukhoi.

Lets be fair, it has been a troublesome road for IAF.
But it their road, not Russia, US or Europa road.
So pls stop pretend you’ll all know whats best for India.

Atleast IAF beat the crap out of Chuck Yeager’s AF with their retarded outfit of SU and French second grade toys.

This is a pretty good source for IAF losses, booth through peace time attrition and losses in conflicts.

PT-04 seen recently with two CM-400AKG hypersonic AShM/LACM missiles. The CM-400AKG has a range of around 250km with a terminal attack speed of around Mach 5.
