Does anyone know when a first flight would be scheduled for this aircraft or are we still a few years away?
I have read about the exchange in India and even spoke with an Eagle driver (Instructor from Tyndall AFB). He had mentioned the USAF and the IAF had both gone into the exercise with limited capabilities so not to reveal true combat abilities of both forces involved.
I actually read this was an exchange with Russian jets and pilots which took place in Alaska about three or four years ago I believe.
Does anyone know why the US Department of Defense decided to use the Kfir as an OPFOR aircraft during the mid-eighties. Would it have been to allow American naval aviators to be familiar with these aircraft in case they ever went to war with a nation such as Lybia? Or was it simply because the aircraft had similar performances to the Mig-23?
I have read, in a few articles, that USAF F-15s had been challenged by Russian Flankers and had been badly outflown. Just recently as well, I believe a couple of Strike Eagles from the 48th FW were jumped by RAF Typhoons and were quickly outdueled after a mock engagement.
The F-15 is a great aircraft but I don’t think it will be able to keep up with the new jets which are presently entering service around the world.
I agree that putting a couple of Predator control stations on a AC-130 would make the combination highly effective in the war against terror. Maybe the Euro Corps should consider something similar with the upcoming A400M.
Does anyone know if the UAE will purchase a second airframe or if they will simply remain with the first machine? And does anyone know where the aircraft is based, whether at Al-Dhafra or Dubai? Cheers
What ever happened to the purchase of sixty Eurofighter by the Greek government a few years back? Are they still intent on going ahead with this acquisition or are they reviewing the selection? Cheers
Should Korea choose the Boeing offering, will it appear int he same shape as the aircraft which are currently being built for Australia?
Boeing Aircraft uses Russian built transports to ferry parts between plants! Who would have ever thought this would ever happen!!
What impact will the new grey scheme have on the Nighthawk’s LO capabilities? Just wondering as the first pictures of the grey Stealth were recently released.
Everyone has been mentioning aircraft which are already in use or could potentially be upgraded. However, no one has mentioned what could be going on at Area 51 or any other secret installation in the United States. Only the US government does know what’s going on there although it would be great to get quick peek in Nevada!
It’s interesting to think the SAS would choose a helicopter such as the NH90 for assault operations. I would have thought the MH-6 Little Bird would have been a good choice as it is used by Delta Force.
Since there is a second airframe awaiting completioon, any word on whether or not it will be completed and used along with the first one? Cheers!
I think the Mexican Air Force would have to purchase aircraft which will be able to operate in conjunction with the Hawkeyes it recently purchased. This puts Russian fighters or anything like them out of contention. I am sure that a lease of New built Saab Gripen could be an option in a deal similar to the one made for Bulgaria. However, I believe the best choice would be second hand F-16s from the USAF. I can’t really see Mexico needing more than sixty such fighters and I am sure there are enough of these at ARMAC with lots of time left on the airframes.
