Gentlemen, it has been a while.

I have been busy in thelast few months improving myself doing various things. It’s been enlightning.
However, I have found the time to check out a few movies. They are:

Iron Man: By far, one of the best comic-book heroes to be brought to the big screen. Robert Dopwney Junior did an incredible job in the title character. The support cast was outstanding as well. All in all, a wonderful little action flick that will somehow find it’s way into my collection.

The Incredible Hulk: I was never a fan of the first one made with Eric Bana. So I went into this one with some reservation. I do have to say that I was a little more impressed with this one. Norton did a fantastic job while the rest of the movie somewhat failed to impress me, but certainly not to the level of the first attempt. I am not sure what it is I am looking for but I guess no CGI work will ever replace Lou Ferigno.

Hellboy II: I loved the first instalment. Some light humor, a little action here and there and an incredible imagination to have come up with such a story. The follow-up was just the same and the creativity from the director was visionary. All-in-all, this was a simple popcorn movie you can just throw into the player several times just because it’s easy to watch.

    And finally…

The Dark Knight: Here is all I have to say. Simply put, this is quite likely the greatest movie that was ever made. I struggled to find the right word but epic and brilliant come to mind. It is an absolute must see, period! End of story!

Until the next time, be well gentlemen.

Gentlemen, it’s been a long time. I trust you’ve all had a wonderful New Years! May 2008 be prosperous for you all!

I was able to pick up a few movies in the last week, the titles of ‘which are [B]3:10 to Yuma[B], [B]Shoot’Em Up[B], [B]War[B] and the third instalment of the [B]Pirates of the Caribbean Saga[B].

Let’s start with [B]3:10 to Yuma[B]: Probably one of the best western I have seen in a long time. It stands at the top of the list with Unforgiven and the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The performance given by Russell Crowe and Christian Bale are top notch but I have to admit that Ben Foster’s character was quite chilling and enjoyable. It’s a great movie, one I would recommend without hesitation.

Next, [B]War[B]: Don’t expect too much out of this action movie. This what Jet Li and Jason Statham do best. It’s a decent flick which doesn’t require a great deal of thinking but simply to enjoy the two main characters try to outdo the other. I have to admit that I thoghroughly enjoyed the movie. This is another I would recommend.

The third instalment of the POTC saga, well to tell you all the truth, I wasn’t sure how I would react to it as I had received mixed reviews from friends of mine. However, I did load the movie into the player with an open mind and although I thought the movie was slightly too long, I have to admit that I did enjoy it. Johnny Depp was fantastic as per the usual and any future Pirate movie just won’t be the same unless Jack Sparrow’s is the main character. Keith Richards appearance was perhaps the highlight of the movie. A great way to complete this trilogy. I do hope they produce a box set.

And finally, [B]Shoot’em Up[B]: Many of you probably have sworn to stay away from this one. However, I hope I will sway your opinion. This is not an Oscar winner, as a matter of fact, it might get a few Razzies nods but hey, what do critics know anyway. Have a go at this one, it’s mindless fun and continuous shoot’em up action. It’s a simple movie to watch and it’s over before you know it. Don’r be shy, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Been really busy and I just haven’t had time to check out new flicks. My next viewing pleasure will be [B]Cloverfield[B]. Can’t wait to see that one!

    Cheers to all!

I was able to check out The Bourne Ultimatum at the theatre on Monday night and I have to say this is easily, in my opinion, the best of the trilogy. Not much in term of character development here but the action is relentless and Matt Damon does an awesome job as Jason Bourne. The movie is edgy and keeps you in the edge of your seat from the moment it starts right until it ends. I wouldn’t put it in the same league as Casino Royale but it’s damn close. It’s a great watch and I highly recommend it. Cheers to all!

I agree Daz. I am planning on seeing it again in the very near future. A couple of friends of mine still have yet to see it and so, I think I will be joining them when they are ready.
There was so much going on at any one time that I am sure I missed some of the action. But again, I can’t get over the graphics. If I hadn’t known better, I could have sworn I was actually looking at actual robots. I can’t wait to get the HD DVD, which I believe will moct likely be released around Christmas time.

    Holy CRAP!!

Man was that fun to watch! Over-the-top, action-packed, carnage-filled…. Yep, Michael Bay at his finest!!

I don’t remember being a big fan of the toys or the cartoon when I was younger (although I certainly remember watching it), but God, this just brings out the big kid in you! There’s hardly a moment in it where you don’t think, “Man, that was COOL!” It’s like all those Godzilla Vs. (insert name of big-ass monster here!) movies – except done Hollywood stylee!

OK, Michael Bay has his detractors, and sure the film will be smited for being OTT etc, but that’s what Bay does best! And he does it better than anyone else as far as I’m aware!!!

    Two big-ass thumbs-up from me! 😀 😀

Easily one of the years best films in terms of absolute entertainment. Glad you enjoyed it Daz.
