Thanks Andy,I think you’re right…I’ve been all through the Stirling A.P. And found nothing on the 1143… Only 1154/55,
TR9,1196!GEE and Rebecca.I’ve just got a Fishpond set and can find no mention of that either, although I know some aircraft were fitted with H2s….oh well useful as swops I suppose!!! Still on the lookout for an 1196 though….:D
Thanks for that…was it this picture?was the 1143 fitted to bombers? ie…Stirling?????listed as a receiver rather than an amplifier on this diagram though….
Washed up where?
Saw a photo of a pair of Stirling Mainwheels at a lorry yard in the south west…….still waiting for a fellow forumite to get back to me on that one:eagerness:
Nice find…I can remember seeing 4 twin contact tail wheels on a sight screen on a cricket pitch on Mitcham Common….
Was the location on or near an airfield?

Here it is…no idea on type,no date either, mounted in a rubber seal.was wedged into a antique porcelain clock surround……any ideas?,does it look right…Priddy is on the Mendips .Its still in perfect working order….but I thought it looked a bit too modern for a wartime aircraft…Russian post war even?
Yes..looks like a 500 Hunter Ian….
Great photo…only the other day I was speaking to a chap who was converting bomber aircraft to carry troops back from Egypt at the end of the war.they were mean’t to fly to ‘London’ but were diverted to Blackbushe….he thinks they were Lancasters…I have my theories…and on the Egyptian buried Stirlings too….scrapped.
