I`d say first one is a camera mount looking at the clips and blue casting…any numbers?
Thanks Terry,that No. 14 is an `Air Mileage indicator` Ozjag,which is a bit late for a Stirling,thanks anyway.
Be nice to see that pic Ozjag..if possible. Many Thanks for taking the time to do that Terry, very kind of you..and it`s answered a lot of questions.
I don`t think so at the moment, they`re still going through stuff( ALOT)..but I think that is what they`re aiming for.
All the `Shorts` archives, photos, etc, are no longer with the company, but in The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland..available for viewing .
Nice Project Sopwith!!!
Very sought after though !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Brisfite and John, found the pictures in the books and sent copies to the son of the pilot for his birthday…LJ975 has proved a bit more difficult. The chaps dad mainly flew these two aircraft, LJ975 to Arnhem, later taking Stirling V`s from Stoney Cross to India until 1947.
Not Stirling Tail Wheels,They`re too small and would be numbered AH2282.My list says your wheels are fitted to : Warwick 3,4 and 6,Brigand TF Mk1,Met Mk3,B.Mk.1,T.Mk.5,Buckingham C.Mk1,Buckmaster,Frieghter,C. 202 and Hotspur1,2 and 3.
Nice labels..never seen them before, where are they fitted?
Got a picture somewhere of a Willys Jeep inside a Stirling V……………
Nice Elliot………………where would the ivorine label go?? seems a bit `odd`?
Apparently there were also Stirlings scrapped at Woburn Abbey ( photo on the `Airfield Exchange`)One chap I know in our village used to access them via the nose ladders. His brother removed a compass from one and still has it.
Nice one Airfixtwin…knew itwas somewhere in Ireland
`Although I have a stack of the series DVD’s (including some unpublishable out-takes!) I have not yet seen the Stirling one`……..any chance of a copy of the Stirling one please Andy ?
