I did have an ap for the Fn 82 rear turret, there was a drawing in there for the turret P.I. mount. It was mounted on the right (port side) of the gunner next to the gyro control unit with a small light well away from the gunners sight to not interfere with his acquired `night vision` sadly don`t have the a.p. any more..it went with the turret.
Think you should be looking at Air Ministry` suggestions..much nearer the mark..yes a Dunlop AH prefix would nail it !!
11″ Stirling tailwheels….Come on !!!!!
Fantastic chaps !!thanks for that!!
Like your Radar pic RadarArchive…part of a ROTOR system isn`t it?.I used to play in the base of one of those as a kid,at RAF Langtoft.
I`ll really look forward to another Shoreham,it used to give me a real buzz..my wife went once and thought the main marquee was like the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars !! There were some true eccentrics there which made it all the more interesting, thank god for them..it was always a great day at Shoreham, one of the highlights of the year !!
Metropolitan vickers…?
The cockpit replica on ebay I think was Gordon Howells, don`t think Bernie Salters cockpit replica made it to ebay, but alot of his cockpit fittings went on there !!
Yes the nose section is Jeremy Halls and possibly the other Lanc section too.part of the stuff that was left over from that Telly Drama with Edward Woodward in it `Night Flight`?, Night Passage`? whatever.
Johns your man for photos of the project seat as its up at Wyton in the stores.
I would Imagine you are right there Peter about them also being fitted in Lancastrians.I would imagine it was a large contract put out to the seat makers, ie Rumbolds, for a lightweight, foldable seat that could be simply bolted to any aircraft floor.I found one for The Stirling Project about 8 years ago at Shoreham,a rare item indeed ,this is only the second one I`ve seen.I seem to remember that particular Shoreham aerojumble was a bonanza for Stirling parts, got 2 flight engineers panels, sets of rudder pedals, part of the floor with bombclamp still attached ( ex flowers scrap),Stirling flaps panel and bomb aimers extending sight lamp. It`s a shame that event went, really missed the characters and banter more than anything !!
The framework is VERY similar to the passenger seats fitted to the Mk V Stirling, but the upholstery on these was just green canvas.
Ahh.. the non-white dog has been replaced by a cat! I wonder what it will be called………..:D
TIGGER of course !!
Shouldn’t it have been called “John Nicol likes people to think he flew, but is really only a passenger in….”
What about” should have been selecting weapons system rather than f**king
with camera”
Well Deserved by the look of it!! Congrats
