Captain Bulloch was in command of the BOAC flight that was caught in Cairo during the Suez crisis in 1956. Before the crew were spirited out of the country, they had to prevail upon him to leave his service revolver (apparently it was not that unusual for a BOAC Captain to still have one in 1956!) – which he hid in one of the lavatory cisterns in the Heliopolis Palace Hotel … wonder if its still there now??!! 🙂
A visit to the National Archives at Kew should bring you some answers, but as has been said, if you provide some details, someone on here will probably tell you.
Makes you wonder what other collectors have been doing so wrong when storing their warbirds. Perhaps Doug Arnold should have asked Connie to give him some space to store his P47 and Mk XVIII that were airworthy then crated but required a full rebuild afterwards.
Are you saying these aircraft don’t need a rebuild? 🙂
