    Hi all,

My work is sending me backwards and forwards over the next month or two from STN to EDI and I am wondering about some good spotting/photo spots at EDI – any recommendations/anyone fancy a beer sometime up there? 😉

    Cheers!! 😮

If it’s during the day before 4 pm head for Ingliston Market (assuming you have a car) and there are plenty of spots along the fence for pics if you have a small diameter lens, otherwise you’ll be limited to shots above the line of the fence.
After 4 pm head to the north side (accessed via Kirkliston) and the ‘Boathouse Bridge,’ park the car there and walk east about 150 yards and there is a slightly raised embankment which offers excellent views of landings/departures on r/w 24, especially if the sun is getting low as it gives the pics a nice hue (a small ladder would help).
Check my pics on the ‘Turnhouse Tour – Part I/II/II’ threads for ideas of what to expect.

I think matt was reffering to the plan Joe linked to. It shows a planned MX area where the Ingleston ground currently is.

Believe this was mentioned during the tour was given, along with Joe.

I think it is planned to build a maintenance area in order to encourage more based aircraft and basically build up a MX base.

I was just pointing out that at the moment there IS an aircraft maintenance facility/hangar at EDI Bmused. 🙂

I see in an above linked image, there appears to be a large maintainence area. Anyone have more information on that?

Aeroscot Engineering have a maintenance hangar at Turnhouse, they service F-27 and Shorts 360 a/c on a regular basis and I’ve also seen ad-hoc work being done on Emb145 and BAe 146 a/c.

It’s nothing to do with widebody stands! Clearly you can’t be aware of the fact that EDI is now overcapacity, so urgent expansion of the terminal is needed. Although initially not onto the land at Ingliston a new pier is to be contructed on the SE apron, infact, looking at the pics on another EDI pic thread, it appears work may just have started.

Indeed, so I doubt the Ingliston site will be required for quite a few years yet.

Another nice collection of pics. With a bit of luck this building work should be the very beginning of work on the new SE pier.

    Yep, more investment from BAA.

Hi guys just sorting out my photos from a week in the sun so thought I would share some. Great airport for spotting and photos. A dirt track runs the entire length of the fence, just park where you feel like. Took over 200 photos, and made 220 new numbers ,and some big hangovers, in a week!
    1. SE-DVU 737 Novair arriving on my first afternoon during a shower
    2 OK-FIT 737 Fischer on departure
3 I-NEOT 737 Neos, all 4 were seen during the week
    4 OH-LBT 757 departing runway 08
5 D-ALSB A321 LTU one of many German charters
6 TF-AMA 747 the only IB wide body seen all week.
    7 D-AHFD 737 Hapag Lloyd
    8 EC-ILX 737 Travel service’s Spain only aircraft

More to come tomorrow when I have recovered from a 20oC temprature change, brrr!

Nice pics, was the IB 747 a TFN diversion?

Woah! They are the craziest wingtip vortices I have ever seen! 😮

    I think it’s a Varig DC-10 dumping fuel?
