if i had my own country, my air force would consist of the following:
combat aircraft:
30 F/A-18E/F Super Hornets (24 E’s and 6 F’s, devided under 2 squadrons, primary attack role with secondary Air defence).

4 Airbus A400M to replace C-130’s
2 Airbus A320-AEW&C to replace the E-2C
8 AH-64E Guardian attack Helicopters
replacement for F/A-18 and F-15SE by 2030-2040, likely an export F-22 or Sukhoi Pak-Fa derivative.
earlier this week SAAB has touted its Naval variant, Sea Gripen.
http://www.defencetalk.com/saab-touts-naval-sea-gripen-variant-47793/
althought i have to admit i liked the idea of a Navalised Gripen at first, a few years later i am having second thoughts about the viability of the project.
and this for a number of reasons.
the first is that the market for Navalised aircraft is very small, since there arent much countries that own and operate conventional or STOBAR carriers.
India was mentioned as a potential customer, but since the Indian Navy has already ordered MIG-29K’s and Naval LCA, i dont think it requires a third platform unless the naval LCA gets cancelled.
the mention of the UK and Italy as a potential customer can also be waved off, mostly because both countries has already settled for the F-35B and none of there carriers are fitted with arrestor cables to allow the Sea Gripen to land on the ships. besides, i dont think Italy will convert its Cavour carrier into a STOBAR configuration, not with the current financil crisis.
the same can be said for Spain, witch will most likely go for the F-35B (unless SAAB creates a STOVL gripen) and China is definatly a no go.
this pretty much leaves brasil (as noted in the article) as the only most likely customer, but my guess is the number of Sea Gripens required will be arround 12 to 18.
so the small number of aircraft required, wont justify for its development cost. so they might end up buying surplus US Navy F/A-18C/D (the E/F version would be to heavy for the Sao Paolo)
Second factor is that Sweden never had, and likely never will, operate(d) an aircraft carrier. so Sweden has no experience in the developement of carrier besed aircraft, let alone the requirements (more then just a beefed up airframe, tailhook and landing gear). and Sweden has no facilities to simulate carrier landings (although it could move its testing to the US or Russia).
export customers (if any) will most likely buy naval aircraft from a country that has experience building them, like the US and France (Hornet and Rafale-M).
just my 2 cents 🙂
there is very much a market for the used Gripen A/B and Tranche 1 Typhoons, that is if the customer intends to use them for Air Defence only.
if they want something more multirole capable, then new and used F-16’s are the prefered choice.
the market for used gripen-C/D might be more potential once Sweden has sufficient numbers of E/F versions in service, but i guess that wont happen till 2020/25.
Storm Shadow is also the prefered weapon of choice against dams, as said on the Dambusters 70th anniversary special on BBC2 last night.
my favorites are the Belgian AF 40th Squadron

Belgian AF 31 Squadron

i think they are already developing something like that, the MIG-LMFS
althought little to nothing has been revieled about the project in recent years, it is still noted as in development.
last thing i heared was that they started the design of the engine back in 2006
even thought wikipedia is an unreliable source, a quick google search doest reviel much either.

Belgium to study replacement for A962 Belgica
the Belgian Navy has been given the go-ahead from the Goverment to study the possible replacement of the BNS Belgica (A962) Oceanographic research vessel.
the study will be conducted if it is financially viable to upgrade the ship, or to aquire a new vessel to replace it.

some time ago, iirc sukhoi tried to offer the PAK-FA to South Korea, but pulled out cause it was unlikely to meet the delivery dates.
aside from that, i think the RoKAF prefered western aircraft, hence why they selected the F-35A
other countries that could aquire the PAK-FA are Ukraine, Belarus, China, Indonesia, Venezuela, Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
it might even be possible to sell the aircraft, or at least offer it, to Peru, Brazil and Argentina.
wow, they really turned a rusty old ex-soviet wreck into an aircraft carrying cruise liner.
hard to believe that an ex-soviet ship can become so modern and clean.
as for the J-15 in the pics, i think thats the mockup, different canopy.

multirole capability, i’d say the latest IAI Kfir upgrade, and the IAR Mig-21 LanceR.
my favorite SH Blk.III are all mentioned above, basicly the International Roadmap aircraft with the F414-EPE uprated engine.
try adding Thrust vectoring nozzles to that and you got a real killer in the skies 🙂
Belgium to replace leased A330
as the Airbus A330 lease contract between Portugese operator HiFly and the Belgian Defence will expire by yearend, minister of Defence, Pieter De Crem, will now look into aquiring a new aircraft to replace it.
likely requirements are for a Long-range airliner-type, Passenger/Cargo convertible, most likely to be secondhand.
the article did not specify a buy or lease, but looking at recent news on further budgetcuts, it will most likely be another lease.
First Flight for first Belgian NH90-NFH
although it has not been reported officially yet, Belgiums first NH90-NFH (serial RN01, test registration 98+51) made its first flight today from Eurocopters Donauwörth factory.
UPDATE:
todays flight was the first unoffial test flight, the official test flight is sheduled for monday April 8th, 2013.
IIRC, the Danish, back in 2010, were particularily interested in the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet as an alternative to the F-35
