Very cool sight, but they dont like they are in formation – they look like they are flying at different heights on their own flight plans. the zoom on your camera would only make them look even closer as high zooms destroy perspective.

    Hi Adam,

I would hope that they are flying at different heights LOL. They came from the western horizon all the way out of my sight in a City to the East. If they were on different flight paths they were tracking for a very long time.

I understand focal length compression and also the different sizes of aircraft make them look like they are side by side. It’s really just a neat picture for I have never seen a pair this close tracking each other. Normally if you are lucky enough you might see them intersecting in the sky like a giant cross.

I’m still interested in anyone who has the software that can tell me what they were.

    Cheers.

Zoom Airlines – Quality of Service.

I flew from YYZ to GLA & GLA YYZ last year with Zoom Airlines and will be doing so again this May. My reasons for choosing Zoom were two fold.

Twice I have flown the route with Air Transat and I can attest to the sardine syndrome. Even with the armrests in the vertical position and nobody beside you I found it difficult to get out of the seat.

I asked some taxi drivers at GLA for customer feedback and although they could not officially recommend any airline, they did say that passengers who came off of Zoom planes were very happy with the service. Hmmm, well there you have it.

Zoom Airlines have 4 ageing Boeing 767-300ER’s, they are not as new as Air Transat’s Airbus A310’s but they offer more legroom in economy. I speak from experience as I am 6’1″ and a bit (183 cm). The legroom is not extravagant by any means, but it is workable and did not bother me at all on the 7 hour flight. On the contrary with Air Transat, it is all I could think of for I could not even push my legs under the seat in front.

Food service with Zoom is very good considering it is a discount airline. They were always coming around with something and they never once refused to bring me something to drink outside of the meal times. Quality of the meal wasn’t any different from Air Transat, I mean it’s a meal served at 35,000 feet in a plastic container. It was hot and tasty that’s all that matters right?

I can’t remember if you have to pay for the headphones, for I never buy them anyway. I am too busy looking out the window for other traffic or trying to sleep when it is dark. Movie screens are ceiling mounted.

I am flying with them again this May for in my opinion they are the best of the economy bunch for Canada / UK travel. This time I am coming home with my wife and 7 year old Step-Son, so now they have 3 tickets out of me valued at $2400.00 (1000 quid)… so proof of the pudding is in the eating. I was happy to give them my money because of the way they treated me the first time.

    Hope this helps.

There’s more about Zoom here on Wikipedia. …. and yes the photos you see are mine.

Those are very clear Jamie, living proof as to what the 400D can do.

The close up of the Emirates 777, you can see the pilot picking his nose and that really bothers me… so 9.9 out of 10.. sorry to be “picky” har de har.

Cousin, the wan ye like. :diablo:

That’s different Adam. I am getting dizzy looking at it. Reminds me of the find Waldo books LOL.

I might try and make a 1280 wallpaper version…. oh oh… now you’ve got me started.

excellent shots there, the lighting is quite abstract in some of them. my favourite is the Air Canada embraer.

    Sam

    Thank you Sam,

Usually the underside of any aircraft is quite a bit darker, either because of the gun metal grey, or the reflection of the ashphalt or soggy grass. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground and this afforded me the luxury of added illumination. It also afforded me the luxury of almost freezing my fingers and ears off haha.

Kevin and I actually did take a couple of shots whilst it was snowing, not technically great shots but interesting that they can land in just about anything.

    Cheers,

    Greetings everyone,

This is my first post… remember when you had yours?

Indeed a good freezing time was had by myself and Kevin hanging around airport perimeter fences here in Canada… and not one OPP to be seen.

I am formerly from Dunlop in Ayrshire, emigrated to the busier aviation climes of Toronto Canada in 1988. I currently reside 120 miles west in a City called London. Been home to Ayrshire twice in the last two years and will return again in May of this year.

Amidst the plethora of images I acquired with Kevin on that chilly Saturday, please find attached the most humourous of the days events.

Kevin has tremendous equipment for an acknowledged amateur. His 100-400 ILS lens however is so large that it can fit the body of an CRJ 100ER right inside the lens barrel. Here’s a photo to prove it.

Nice to be here. Hopefully I can bring you some different colour from this side of the Atlantic.

    Cheers.

    Cousin. aka Martin. :diablo:
