I was at Kew, today, and, unfortunately, there is no O.R.B. A note, in the later book, says that the records for April and May were lost in France, and there were not enough details saved to resurrect them.

But why does the Mosquito have to become the “Mossie”? What the hell is a mossie? A tiny mouse? A lichen-covered pebble? Have a little dignity.

Obviously you haven’t the faintest idea of the affection held, by some pilots, for their aircraft (incidentally the Spitfire was mostly known just as a “Spit.”) It’s exactly the same as the shortening of wives/girlfriend’s names by some of my friends (Sonny – Sonya, Liz – Elizabeth, Josie – Josephine.)

Does “temporarily laying off staff” (which eventually drifts into permanence) cost a company less than outright closure and the resultant redundancy payments? U.S. company law remains a closed book to me.

If you Google pow camps in the U.K., you’ll find Sheriffhales, Whitchurch and Shrewsbury as the only named locations in Shropshire.

You should try Gaydon (nothing to do with a university); it, too has a non-aviation museum.

Indeed, 298,399 additional people to a population of 63,489,234. I.E. 0.47% or sod all in the greater scheme of things.
Certainly not an additional strain on over stretched resources as some seem to want to portray it. 🙂

It might seem like “sod all” to someone not living here, but, to a nation which already houses an average 261 people per square kilometre, and is only building 137,000 homes per annum, when there’s already a need for 220,000-300,000, it puts quite a substantial strain on available resources.

As a (very much amateur) researcher, I’m always rather perturbed, when these “revelations” surface, at how not one of the disciples ever seems to take an askance view, and ask pertinent (to me, anyway) questions.
1/. Where was the vehicle, with the capacity of an early Boeing 747, actually built, and why has no member of the company ever mentioned it?
2/. How were the engines developed, and why do they apparently no longer exist?
3/. What were 350 astronauts actually going to do while they were up there?
4/. Where were the (presumably at least 700) astronauts trained, and why has there been not a single story of their experiences?
The big problem with the seeds of a conspiracy theory is that there needs to be at least some sort of fertile ground in which to plant them.

[QUOTE=snafu352;2226600]Where is this “uncontrolled immigration” you speak of?
Net movement of people to and from the UK was an increase of 0.47% of the population using the last available figures.[QUOTE]
Just a small point, but that minuscule figure, in a population of 63,489,234, equals an influx of 298,399.
“There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

I find it odious that he is mounting a defence.

Good thing you weren’t on the jury, then. Innocent until proven guilty still holds sway in this country.
