If you help a foreign intelligence agency, without informing your govt, than you are a foreign agent. No ifs and no buts

He was convicted of conspiring against the state, not of being a foreign agent; how do you “conspire against the state,” when the person involved is (supposedly) an illegal immigrant, and of whom the authorities deny all knowledge? For that charge to stick, he has to have been there with their connivance, and Phantom II has hit the nail right on the head.

Oh please, let me get my violin out ..

While you’re at it, play something in remembrance of all the innocents who died because of Bin Laden’s twisted policies.

Not taking part in an event because you haven’t won for 15 years is one of the most pathetic excuses ever. Typical British paranoia to think the fiddle is somehow aimed at us. .

Sadly, it’s you who doesn’t get it; people want us out not because we haven’t won, but because it’s entirely predictable, before the event, that we won’t even get close. Spain awards Germany top marks; Germany awards Spain top marks, oh, what a surprise. Did it happen this year? Don’t know, don’t care, since the magic of waiting for the scores to be declared has gone, so I’d rather watch England playing, rather badly, against Norway; at least there was an even chance we’d score more than them.

You don’t have to be interested in football. Let me try another question then. Do you say Scotland should stop entering the Rugby World Cup because they have never won it? Of course not. Not winning is a poor excuse for not entering.

Rotten analogy, that; Scotland’s rugby team are always beaten by a better team, on the field, not by some faceless voters, hundreds of miles away. Not wanting to be a party to a fiddle is a perfect excuse for not entering.

It’s very easy to lash out at the U.S., us, and any other democratic country you can think of, but the fact remains that any attempt to bring force to bear will be immediately vetoed by Russia (certainly,) and China (probably.) In the so-called diplomatic world, children’s lives come a poor second to the chance of making a profit.

Actually, I feel rather sorry for Mr. Dorsey, since I think this year’s entry was an act of cynicism by the U.K. Year, after year, the entries are trawled as being (and by) the best that we can offer, and humiliation follows, so, this year, it was a case of sending in a dud song, with a performer past his best, and telling the voters, “Do your worst, we’re past caring.” It worked, but nobody’s bothered; I’m glad I watched something else.

Just tell them we’ll get everyone to vote for their Eurovision entry, tomorrow, so they have the expense of next year’s contest, and they’ll soon back down.

Angela Merkel will tell the EU members how to vote, and all will be solved.
