I think “everyone” is a slight distortion of the facts. A handful of people may have questioned the “rumour” you posted. I think it was more a case of you stating that you “knew” something but were not willing to share it – hence being labeled as speculation and conjecture at the time. Now you can smugly come back and post a bit more on it…
Well done….
I was a doubter and I’m quite happy to admit same! I certainly wasn’t shy about sharing how I felt about the initial announcement, either, so I’m very glad to read more about this project from the owner/s themselves. The process suggested on the WIX post is a nice idea, good on them!
I just hope they don’t get mean-spirited and send up the 190 to take care of it!
I know of a couple of Anson fuselages in New Zealand but I do not know if the owner would let them go. I could find out?
Anyone contemplating a metal-winged Mk.I would do well to compare notes with Bill Reid, MH120/ZK-RRA is a real thing of beauty and a delight to have on the airshow scene. It’s just gained a smoke system so it’ll be great to see her in action at Omaka in two weeks’ time.

An airworthy Oxford? :love-struck: Now that’s an exciting prospect. Anyone serious about getting into an Oxbox project, please get in touch via PM as I have a friend who can help and I’d love to help get one airborne, regardless of location.
I’ve just purchased a Flea of my own! A rather smaller scale version though: http://www.hyperscale.com/2015/reviews/kits/brs144023reviewmd_1.htm
Not my write-up, but the kit I’m expecting to arrive today is this very one. And guess what? One of the decal options is your beloved ‘FFI! I’ll be sure to share building photos with you…should I retain my sanity, working on such a tiny kit…
I thought it was quite an ingenious solution to the yaw issue I’ve read of, as well as making the nose more 109-like (read = marketable for airshows?) and having spares more readily available. I think it’s quite cool!
The Camel is coming along very nicely, and very quickly! Kudos to the team for that. Some lovely photos here.
Gorgeous!
Ooh…Anson I, to the Sky…Has a bit of a ring to it don’t you think?:D
The People’s Anson? :eagerness:
Ooo, grey!
🙂
Speaking of which, I’m surprised to see the Army Wildcat in greys rather than green!
I would love to see an Arado 234 fly
You and me both! I finally built a model kit of one and was amazed at how small it actually is – about the length of a Mirage III! That, and/or the 162, could be fun candidates for reproduction. But that’s another thread!
DaveM2 – is the project linked to by the OP the “theoretically airworthy” example recently in CW?
From memory one or two of the ex-RNZAF Walrus were purchased post-war by a private pilot, and flown on occasion without approval, before suffering in a storm and thereafter being scrapped. I’m sure I’ve seen photos of one on a beach.
There was an initiative about ten years ago, spearheaded by the late Ross Ewing of Catalina fame, to buy the Melton Walrus and bring it here to be flown like ZK-PBY, however I gather there wasn’t enough interest. About five years prior there was another go, possibly also led by Ross.
Errol, that cowling is a scale modeller’s dream! It looks perfectly weathered.
I’m not a fan of the Snipe but this one is my pick for best-looking off the TVAL line.
That’s wonderful news for the UK scene. I really enjoy seeing the Albatros (Albatri?) in New Zealand – getting into them isn’t fun – so you’re in for a real treat.
I was thinking it was 20s she had, not 40s….are they the “tin-openers” I’ve read of? Podded, perhaps?
It’s great to see Hurricane restorations pop up like this. Fantastic news for UK fans of the type.
You folks in the UK seem to have had a real resurgence in the Baby marks over the past decade or so, starting(?) with AR213’s backdating. I’d like to see a “new” Mk.V…the last was BL628 in late 2007, by my reckoning?
Here in NZ I’m only aware of a high-back XVI and a low-back XIV under rebuild, the latter (NH799) edging closer to flight. Australia has a bundle of restorations but I’m not sure if any are pre-IX.
And AQZ is still for sale :eagerness:
Thanks Stan for the update! I always enjoy finding out what delights you have.
