What’s the deal with dribbling Adonis? McManaman was the last English player to be a great dribbler. Trouble was he couldn’t do anything else.

Everyone tends to run down his personality because of his “thick” image. But I think he’s one of those characters that you tend to underrate, whereas Cantona and Best are overrated in the intellectual stakes. Seagulls following trawlers indeed.

Why not ensure that all new pilots are contractually non-unionised?

Or why not hire new pilots for the low cost outfit?

RE: What can´t you stand about your country?

    About the UK:

    1. There is no service ethic.
    2. It is OK to fail but bad to succeed.
    3. It’s cool to be dumb.
    4. Too much beurocracy.
    5. Politically too close to the US.
    6. London is the centre of the Universe. Newcastle? Where’s that?
    7. Everything the state touches falls apart from underinvestment.
    8. There is no real political debate as certain issues are “off limits”.
    9. Taxes are too high.
    10. Far too much political correctness.

RE: If I would get a nickle for each time I have to correct Phantom, I would be a billionaire by now

That’s one of the defining issues. The attack on the Pentagon was understandable, as would a White House attack have been. But the WTC was way below the belt.

    RE: The Antonov 148

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-09-02 AT 05:43 PM (GMT)]I don’t think an airline would decline a Russian aircraft purely on safety grounds, given that they would have a US/EU CofA in most cases.

Maybe the issue is jointly that they are not fuel efficient and that there is no guarantee of supply of spare parts. What was your experience on that front Ja?

Ja – some Sukhoi pics would be interestging!

Definite improvement on the Shorts 330 in the ugly stakes though.

SIA owns 49% of Virgin Atlantic, which is majority owned by the Virgin Group. The Virgin Group own a minority share in Virgin Blue.

    Strange eh?

You have to disclose personal income? Surely the only income you are allowed is the salary when elected?

RE: How was Everyone’s Summer Holiday This year??

I haven’t really had one. I took a week in Australia, but spent about 3 days recovering from 23 hours in economy class. I tend to take lots of short breaks, with Amsterdam next week, then Milan in December, then either Dublin or Prague in January. Hopefully I’ll spend some time pottering around Franschoek and Stellenbosch near Cape Town in about a years time.
