No, but at least he acknowledges the areas where disagreement is probable and presented a fairly rounded argument.

Andrew – you’re serious? BMI entered into a verbal contract?!??
GD, British Airways has been a little bit anally retentive as regards oneworld expansion I think.
They don’t want any more partners who have European hubs (eg. Swiss) because of the “competition” which their hub might cause LHR for long haul traffic.
OK, I’ll refine my syntax.
Algeria was a country with a world famous terrorist problem. A lot of the terrorism was directed against French interests. In that light, CDG was obviously at risk.
Happy?
It’s not so much that – ideally LHR would expand for ever, as one big airport is more efficient than two medium ones.
But there is simply not the room! So under that condition, it is better to expand as much as possible at LHR and direct the extra capacity we need into one place – LGW. Again, that it is more efficient than spreading it around LTN, STN, LGW, Manston etc. as some people advoate.
The thing that really has to happen is for LGW to be expanded significantly. No mucking about with Manston or Cliffe, it has to be LGW.
Expanding LHR is all well and good, but it is not a growth measure really – it merely protects LHR a bit from CDG et al for a while.
STN and LTN are lesser priorities but some expansion is probably warranted for them as well.
At an EU level, they would be entitled to view it in the context of Oneworld vs. Star
On that basis, Star gains a lot more influence at LHR than at present. It would presumably be a trigger for BA for to say “OK, go ahead, but as pay off we want to resurrect BA/AA”.
..although apart from the “pictorial” they do have very funny headlines sometimes:
Up Yours Delors!
(Aimed at former EC Commissioner Jacques Delors)
Achtung! Surrender!
(prior to England v. Germany in Euro 96)
Don’t Mention The Score!
(Germany 1-5 England in WC 2002 qualifier)
And of course the theme concerning French presidents and worms, which was juvenile although very amusing!
But in general a pile of jouranlistic tosh. I said crap earlier, beause I can’t say ****. Isn’t the forum language filter an odd beast!

Wingflaps, what is the difference between load factor and yield?
Is yield taking into account sales as opposed to bums on seats?
Memo to manufacturers: STOL aircraft never achieve sales success!
Andrew, a contract is a contract and the new owners cannot suddenly start charging BMI.
BA were concerned about the threat from terrorism as far as I can remember. Alegeria at the time was a terrorist country. In that context it is justifiable for Air Algerie to be segregated and any airline forced to operate next door would be annoyed about it!
I would expect the competition authorities to take a look at it though.
