Might I humbly suggest that AE’s Electra landed neither on Nikumaroro nor New Guinea surf, but on New Britain?

As for TIGHAR’s lack of actual aircraft recovery (despite their claim to be the world’s premier organization at doing so) perhaps:
The International Group for Historic Aircraft Research
Do you mean WZ944 ?

Paper trail died on this a few years ago. Last buyer on FAA registry was Merle Maine Enterprises of Ontario, Oregon.
Not so much B-24 as LB-30…AL557 to be exact.
Interesting to note that much of this aircraft still exists at Darryl Skurich’s facility in Fort Collins, Colorado in the US.

I’d guess there’s a good chance that the CAF’s “Ol 927” flies with the same prop.
This just in.
Not the best…but the first A-A.
Five hours accumulated and – “Yes it will be at Oskosh”.
Mark
Perhaps this is a hoax as well? Grainy pic…a bit of blue flame photoshopped on the exhaust…and even a neophyte knows it’s spelled “Oshkosh”. Certainly clearer and more comprehensive evidence is required. 😀
One more aircraft parts prefix to add to your impressive list:
VS2 = Sea Wolf
The Sea Wolf was designed by Vought-Sikorsky as the XTBU-1. Production under contract by Consolidated-Vultee as the TBY-2. 180 aircraft produced before contract canceled in 1945.
…Imagine the “C123J” if it had ever been built!
Actually, there were ten of them. 😀
Thank god I use this forum, some of the posts over there are beyond comprehension!
LOL … same comment made there about this forum!
Just the reverse of the Super Corsair………….As the Ta-152 was a excellent high altitiude performer but not as good all around as say the FW-190D-9….
Scooter, nothing personal, but why the hell did you ask for people’s opinions if all you were planning to do was critique them?
Ta-152
…thus we should all be greatfull to the Americans…
’bout time. 😀
Sad news…
And yet nothing in the press about his effectively ending Rommel’s military career.
Ahem, Fairey if you please!
But “hanger” is ok?

Perhaps the Spanish Air Force should just take their unwanted gift back. 😉
Well, here are the first pics from inside the museum. Warning: Not for the faint of heart.

The sadness continues: The static aircraft and rebuilds have all been saturated with salt water, but no fresh water supply has been restored yet for hosing down and preventing corrosion. Positively tragic.
If only it had been Michael…landslide victory!!
