A few Vulcan shots from Cosfird

Most of the other photos from Cosford weren’t worth scanning in, but I like these.

Back around 1980, I went up to Blackbushe with some friends to see an Invader that had arrived recently, IIRC. Having seen the Invader we wanted to get up around the hangars to see of there was anything of interest visible.

Cycling along parallel to the runway, we heard a howl from behind us. We stopped and looked around as a beautiful gold and white Mustang beat up the runway. As it climbed out again, we could hear something coming in behind it and sure enough it was followed by a Thunderbolt.

ISTR that the Thunderbolt was N47DE and the Mustang became G-PSID

    Undoubtedly North Weald.

I think it was the USAAF Fly-In in June 1992.

    The T-34 is N34AB
    Cub 43-29601 is G-AXHR

Most of Dave Gilmour’s and Rob Lamplough’s based aircraft were out for the show – the tail of N51RR is visible in one picture, as well as some of the Aces High fleet, e.g. Dolly, Ju52, Vultee BT-13. G-SUSY also visited. There were about 4 Beech 18s present including Beech Belle and Southern Belle plus a similar number of T-6 and Stearmans.

    Tony Andrews

Do you know what the Luftwaffe aircraft next to the T34 is? Also I’ve got some photos of Diamond Lil in the air. I think it’s the same event. Was Diamond Lil at that event?

From the same batch of photos, Dave Gilmour’s Gnat, a couple of Vulcan shots, a couple of Mitchells, a Liberator, a Mustang, an Avenger and a couple of Harvards. I don’t know when/if I’ll find time to scan them in.

If I can beg/borrow/steal a usable slide scanner I’ll get some stuff from other shows scanned in.
