It’s 1/160th, I would describe it as camera shake – but lens shake is as adequate a description as any.
I meant on this site as opposed to this thread.
Yep, I agree about the dust, but it’s not present on the Gripen shot, at least not at a normal viewing, so I assume it’s all on the lens, rather than the sensor – but he may have cleaned it.
Dust may not be visable depending on the f-stop. If this camera is new, then it needs to be cleaned. Canon is very good at sending out brand new but dirty cameras in a box!
Once you’ve done that, try using the sharpening tool – the unsharp mask. This will have the effect of tightening up the images.
Judging by the amount of really great propeller movement you got into the Spitfire picture, you may be using shutter priority set just a little too slowly – use a slightly higher setting until you get better at panning.
Ahh I see that you still have the exif data attached – the shutter is really slow – 1/160 sec – raise it to 1/250th until you get more accomplished, or a longer/better lens.
Some photos you have seen here are taken at 1/60. The spit is lens shake this crop clearly shows it. There is two of everything.
If your pictures are over exposed, I don’t know how the Canon does it, but at 160th it might not have had the ability to give a high enough F number. On my camera, if it can’t get it high enough, the F number stays red, which means it’s asking me to use a faster shutter speed.
You Gripen photo was much better, and I managed to sharpen it quite nicely:
I don’t see any reason to clean your camera, but there is a smudge on the lens, I think.
SLR’s can go out to an f-stop of 32 with the correct lens, unlike point and shoots which are often restricted to an f-stop of 8.
As for dust, the spit shot is covered in it.
Looks like lens shake. ie: you need to improve your panning. Practice on moving cars, birds etc as it’s takes a while to get good at it.
Also, get your sensor cleaned.
Curves in photo shop on the white, then levels and pick the grey on the pavement. And then in colour adjustment remove some blue.
This was very quick, so is a bit rough and it needs to be done of the large files.
Hi guys,
i am going to give up my 300D and get a S3 Pro but before i do i wondered if anyone here had used the S3 Pro for airshows and such, i do know it is on t he slow side so just wondered how slow it really was.
anyone ?
I have used one along side a 20D, not for aircraft and I think you will find it to be very slow. A great camera for inside and landscapes, not for action. Writing a RAW file took about 30 seconds compared to the 20D which took about 0.5.
It’s not often that I’m wrong, but it would appear that in this case I was. The container doesn’t contain an Australian P-51. No it has the flying Lancaster that has gone missing from here (New Zealand) that the media has been reporting over the last few days. I just hope that no damage was done when the Lanc was shoved into the container as it looks a bit small to hold a complete aircraft! :dev2:
There’s nothing right about Lowestoft.
Oh, sorry, mishead you.
Are you all trying to drop hints that the Australian P-51 is actually at Lowestoft and not in a container? Then what is in the container, is it another suprise for Legends. Wow that’s two 🙂 What could it be I wonder? And how is the P-51 painted?
Chinese T-shirt slogan????
“Why don’t you rissen–you sirry breeders.”
Exactly, thats the kind of thing. The P-51 must look stuning covered in that sort of thing :diablo:
Unless its a Chinese fighter, a Jian-5 or even a mug-1 😎
That must be it, there’s no way legends would import just a load of t-shirts!!
Chinese T-shirts, exported via Australia for tax reasons.
It is not an aeroplane.
Trust me.
I’m sorry, but “area 51” “Australia”, it all adds up. An Australian P-51 painted with Chinise t-shirt slogans. A cunning plan and why Legends is the best airshow in the world, something new every time!
Now if we could just get wings onto the container 🙂
Seen at Duxford today, 6th May, near the ‘Area 51’ compound. Large ‘Australian’ container hire label on the door.
Brian
Does this mean it’s a Australian P-51 thats the surprise this year?
hi everyone , hope you all had a nice christmas. I left a post on here before about which camera to buy as i want to change from film to digital. I still cant make up my mind though. I have around £650, can anybody recommend a camera to me. I have thought of second hand, maybe a 10d or do i get a 350d?? i would be glad of any advice anyone can give me.
As always, think about what you want to use it for, then have a look at whats around to fit your needs. A 350d is a very good camera and if its in your price range, then go and get it. Also the Nikon d70s is also very good.
Ah seems fair enough, where did the front guns go? There was a couple of .30 cals in the film mounted up front in the film
This shot kind of shows where they mount on the film aircraft. In real life, armament was two .30 caliber machine guns in the center section of the upper wing that fired forward just outside the propeller arc and two guns fitted to a scarf ring around the rear cockpit.
Wow nice – thought the movie aircraft only had a single gun in the rear though?
I grabbed a twin lewis and mounted it because it looked better for the photos. Same mount and it made up for the lack of the front guns.
helldiver
Yes it is a gunsight. Can’t remember the name.
