Sorry about the last post, I made some changes to my profile and they didn’t appear to save. So to check, I did a dummy post, only I was the dummy and hit the wrong button.

    Sorry.

    Air to air

    Hi

I use a birddog based here in Christchurch as muach as possible as you can shoot from both side’s with no restriction.

For the faster aircraft, I prefer a Nanchang over a Yak52 as there is more room in the back seat and you don’t get the slipsteam problems you do in a Yak.

The fisrt photo is me in the birddog shooting a Cub, while my 12 year old daughter shoots me with a Canon G3.

The next two are from my favorite camera ship, a F2b with the rear seat facing backwards.

    Triplane

    Hi

These three photos give an idea of how the colour changes with different light.

The last photo gives you an idea of what a triplane looks like just before you pick up your harp and wings!

    Triplane colours

    Hi

What was exact appearance and markings of the definitive “all red” paint scheme on von Richtofens aircraft? I seem to have seen various takes on it. Can anyone shed any light?

From what I understand, the red triplane in my photos is in the correct colours. His Triplane was never all red, just the fuse and upper wing surfaces.

When you see this aircraft bank with the sun on it, all you can see is a blood red aircraft. And when he pops up behind the tail of an F2b, just before you are filled with holes, the Triplane looks all red.

And I can assure you that the appearance of the Triplane from under the tail is bloody scary.

    Hi

    Wow!

Any chance of boxing them up and posting them to Old Warden?

Only if we can get some of yours.

How many triplanes are flying there? That is a sight (I think) we haven’t seen here in europe for more then 85 years.

    Five.

    Aircraft in New Zealand

    Hi

[QUOTE=Dave Homewood]Thanks guys. I missed the beginning of the news item so wasn’t too sure of the Beech thing. Thanks Dave. Is it flying? I didn’t know there was any in NZ outside of Motat. QUOTE]

If you live in New Zealand and would like to know whats flying here, get a copy of Classic Aircraft in New Zealand. It’s a new book that covers almost 50 types flying here. (Photos aren’t bad either)
