Cool! But yeah, I’m guessing you’d need special military-grade Bluetooth to guard against possible jamming … Greentooth?
Towed decoys- can also be bought from companies
So can better aircraft. What’s your point?
I still don’t see that it would be complicated … it’s just a powered gimbal. You don’t even need to modify the rocket pods. The backblast is only going to be a problem if you give it an extreme range of travel … but it reality it only needs to be a few degrees, the pilot can do the rest of the aiming.
Why not? The pods would be reusable, the rockets unguided.
The Apache already has a limited version of this since its weapons pylons are articulated and can change their elevation (not traverse, though).
Would it be cheaper to design a more accurate unguided rocket, and make the pods “pointable”? That way, the onboard FCS can do the aiming for you (like tank guns).
I would like to see more trade between countries inside Europe … when you look at all the arms products from all European countries combined, there’s really no need to buy from anywhere else. You can get 1st-rate gear entirely inside Europe, and you’d get massive economies of scale.
I think the first positive step would be for the Euro to be adopted by the last stragglers of the EU. If only the UK government would show a little backbone and make the switch. Sure, people would whine about it, but it wouldn’t take long for them to forget what it was they were complaining about and go back to their reality TV shows.
Leaving aside the issue of guided rockets being missiles, I don’t see the point of this system.
So as I understand it, the rocket homes in on a laser reflection. This means that a laser needs to be pointed at the target, right? So why not just point the rocket at the target in the first place, and do away with the expensive laser business?
I read it wasn’t a MANPAD, but it was a lucky RPG shot.
Like I could care less how many of your tax dollars will be spent rectifying the problem.
How much less could you care? We need to know!
What’s the in-service date?
The lessons of the Falklands were learned for a while it seems but after a few more years things return to the default position.
You got that right; now we are expected to believe the Type 45’s are as good at providing air cover as the scrapped Sea Harriers were.
In the end the Harriers failed to defend the fleet better due to the inadequacy of the defence concept and the avilable technology (AEW, MRAAM, range).
I agree. If Sea Dart and Rapier had worked as advertised, things would have gone much more smoothly for the British.
Another example of the MoD accepting substandard equipment, and only fixing it AFTER lives have been lost.
It would also have helped if half the Sea Harrier pilots had bothered to get their radars to work.
So what do other fusion bombs use instead of deuterium?
I would have thought that in a global war with China the F-22 might come in quite handy …
The Longbow is way more effective than the Cobra in its designed role.
