As Mr. Adlam seems intent on making posts which promote his business, shouldn’t these posts be considered to be breaking Rule 6 of the Code of Conduct?
“6) Blatant advertising of products and services is unacceptable, if you wish to advertise please contact our advertising team on +44(0)1780755131 or email info@keypublishing.com”
Seems pretty blatant to me.

Cheap shot. He has given an honest and up front account of how his business is run and even asked for people to contact him with any issues they have. Why should that incur your wrath? Even if it was an advert, how many Spitfire builders visit this forum? And even if he did sell more Spitfire parts to rebuilders as a result of this post, doesn’t that mean more projects get a step closer to completion and therefore more aircraft in the air? Maybe you would prefer he went bust and so another source of Spitfire spares dries up? I really wonder about some of the people on this forum sometimes.
I say good luck to the guy and I hope he isn’t deterred from remanufacturing Spitfire parts by some self important plane spotters.
Simon, the downside of this view is that it results in less photos and/or extremely instrusive watermarks. Surely due courtesy and credit where credit’s due is the better approach?
I couldn’t agree more Robbo, and thats my point. We all know that people will copy/save/redistribute/post photo’s that they didn’t take without the owners consent and give no credit. It happens all the time and its a fact of life. Nothing anyone can do will change that.
My point is that photographers still upload photo’s knowing full well this goes on. You know there is a fair chance it will happen so why are people so surprised and annoyed when it does? If I park my car in town at night and leave my laptop on display on the front seat, I know it wont be there when I come back. If knowing that I still did it, people would say I was stupid and deserved to have it nicked. If I leave the laptop on display, someone will nick it. If you leave your photo’s on display, people will take them too. If you insist on displaying them, dont throw a tantrum if they get nicked or reposted without a credit. It happens, you just have to accept that, or if it bothers you, don’t post them.
Fully agree about the etiquette side of things but that’s about as far as it goes. I cannot sympathise with photographer’s who upload their images to the internet where they are freely accessible and then complain that people are misusing them.
You are right Mike when you say that just because people download illegal software does not make it right. But if Microsoft were to upload their latest version of Windows XP/Vista and make it freely accessible to the public, they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if it was then abused/used/distributed/copied by others. If they complained everybody would laugh at them and say “why did you upload it in the first place???” Its exactly the same with photographs. I would never upload photo’s of my children to the net as I would have no control over where they ended up. Why should aeroplanes be any different?
Your correct to say that just because it happens does not make it right, but like I say you are being very naive if you think it wont happen. As I said, if it bothers photographers that much they shouldn’t make the photo’s freely available on the internet.
You might have the courtesy to remove your unauthorised postings of my work before you go.
I can’t believe this is the same Mike that I used to work with at Duxford all those years ago. I can even remember the day that Adrian gave him his first big break into TFC by letting him clean the Bearcat. Whats with all the high and mighty stuff Mick?? Take the stick outta your a*s and chill out. They are only photos of old aeroplanes. You sound like you’ve got some sort of axe to grind with this forum or something?
You must have posted those pics on the internet and at that point, despite what any laws say, they became public property. If you dont want folks to abuse or look at your photographs, keep them to yourself. If you dont want people to download your pics and keep them on their hard drive, dont upload them in the first place. If you want to keep any kind of control of your photos, dont go posting them on internet forums. If I had some photo’s that I wanted to retain copyright control over the last thing I would do would be to post them freely all over the internet.
I wish you all the best Mick, but I think you’re being a little nieve if you think that your photos are going to be treated any differently to all the games, software, music and movie’s that are illegally uploaded and downloaded on the interweb. Dont post them if it bothers you that much, its as simple as that really.
There were numerous planes bought down in the area so difficult to know which one you mean. I am guessing though that it is the Ju88 that crashed at Bromborough Pool on the Wirral bank of the Mersey?
I’m pretty sure that there are still some parts of the plane in the Fort Perch Rock museum at New Brighton. Could well be the plane that bombed my Dad’s neighbours house….and the local chippy!
I cant find a lot of info about the plane, but if you’re local to Liverpool try asking at the Maritime museum. The Fort at New brighton also has wreckage from most local crashes on display so thats another good place to look.
There is a pic of the Bromborough Ju88 at the top of this page…

If there is anything specific you want to know let me know and I’ll see what I can find out.
It has an advanced stall generator with a fully automated recovery option. The generator stalls the plane, waits to see how the pilot copes with the situation and then deploys the chute if required. The chute is only normally used if the ‘skyhooks’ fail though:D
Ok, I shouldn’t really tell you this as I will be banned from every flying club in the land for giving away trade secrets. Aircraft stalls are caused by a highly classified part called a “stall generator”. This is fitted to most aircraft and is designed to make the plane stall if the pilot attempts to make the plane do something it doesn’t like. It is also programmed to activate if the pilot does not pay attention or falls asleep at the controls. Its usually hidden from sight and only the chosen few know where to find it.
Its function is to make flying more difficult for pilots. If people knew how easy flying was, they’d all want to be pilots and the skies would be too crowded for the rest of us. It also gives us something to talk about in the bar after a flight and makes aerobatics more fun. Great things “stall generators” but dont go telling anyone about them;)

Hi Carl
Looks like it could be a very good website, but you didn’t leave a link to it, so allow me: http://www.ppluk.info/index.htm
Only thing I didn’t like was the hundreds of different forums you have. Going from past experience from running a busy forum, the more sub-forums you have, the less likely you are to get lots of posts.
Great start so far though:)
Nice office! Why cant mine look like that:(
Having attended the last 2 Races at San Francisco, the infrastructure and advertising has to be seen to be believed, and everything is carted around the world from race to race – a serious financial commitment by any standard.
No different to F1 then. Then again, probably cheaper to run than F1 (a lot cheaper!) and it attracts bigger crowds than F1 (much bigger!) so product exposure to more people for less dosh, i’d say the F1 team was in more danger of being axed. The only way that F1 beats it is in the amount of TV exposure it gets.
What ever you may think Mike, the RB infrastructure is tiny compared to what the F1 circus carts around the globe, and the RB kit is probably comparable to a major rock band doing a world Stadium tour.
The Red Bull Air Race series is still in its infancy and its Peter Besenyei’s baby. If RB pull the plug on it there would be a queue of potential sponsors who would jump at the chance of getting the sort of exposure RB have had. For what it has cost RB to sponsor the air race series they could have had a very nice sticker on the nose cone of the F1 Ferrari 😉
Well its not going to be another Stansted Chrissy if thats what you are worrying about. The other posters have a valid point about if you dont like aircraft dont buy a house near an airfield. You have got to bear in mind most of the people in this forum ARE pilots and have to bend over backwards to avoid upsetting people who complain and try to get airfields closed down. That is why some of the replies are a bit blunt.
The most noisy thing you are likely to get at Deenthorpe are small business jets like Cessna Citations. If the idea of these bothers you, drive up to Gamston airfield in Notts and spend a day around there and you will get an idea of the sort of noise levels you can expect. That said, biz jet flights will be a rarity and most traffic would be light piston engined types, the noise of which would drowned out by your neighbours lawn mower!
If its loud noisy regular traffic you’re worried about then you have nothing to worry about. If its planes in general…..see above posts! 😉 Good luck with the purchase though.
I am a bit older at 38 so would have turned 40 by the time I got an ATPL even if I started now. In fact, add another 10 years to that to allow me time to save up! Nah, its something I should have done years ago. Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh? Really wish you the best of luck though Dean.
I think i’ll go and get a Pitts and become a professional aerobatic pilot….I’m off down the job centre to see if they have any vacancies at “Skystunts R Us” 😀
Have you seen the ‘Big boy’s toys’ advert? they are selling off some ex-Yugoslav Air Force Sokos, jet trainers for £75-90k a STOL Utility aircraft for £34k and a Kraguj Ground Attack aircraft ( 6 available!) complete with Wing mounted Machine Guns, deflector sight, hard points and rocket rails! All for a mere £30k+Vat That would be a machine you could exact revenge with!
You got a link for that? I was going to do a search for Big Boys Toys but then thought better of it as I’m at work! 😮
Excellent advice Deano, well written too. I would love to get a commercial rating to instruct, just at weekends. I used to be a driving instructor and am pretty sure I could teach better than some of the instructors I have met! Would love to do an ATPL but couldn’t afford it and am probably too old. Just out of curiosity, how old were you when you started the ATPL Deano??
