Oh I thought the real Manston Airport was having its birthday today! How wrong could I have been! π
Flex 35
is it wise giving lee the names as im sure they dont want to be bugged!
Wilco that.
Flex 35
Yes there is. Without them this forum really would be in trouble. π
Flex 35
I think this is a wind up.
Seriously. π

I agree to be honest. As I said, It also does the occasional NCE flight and will be doing the odd PSA or two when that starts. Although when it’s operating on these two routes it can cause problems due to the range and the possibility of the a/c being over weight.
I happened to ride the 146 from NCE to MAN Saturday before last actually and it was a fairly full flight, therefore we were only able to cruise at FL280 which didn’t really help us make up any time on the 1hr+ delay which we picked up on the ground in NCE.
That’s quite interesting. I wouldn’t like to see it try to make FL310 level 65nm before MID restriction, although I don’t think they can go above FL290 because of icing? I could be wrong though?
You’ve just reminded me of the good old days of Debonair, aircraft and operational problems galore on their BAe 146s worked on a LCC schedule on 2hour+ flights.

Ok…..
Thanks for letting us know.

I’ve now heard the B757 will be occasionally used on flights when more tickets have been sold than will fill a B737. So if you like it’s the same as the BAe 146 operating for the B737 on certain routes.
It just all depends on the loads….
Very interesting. Shame that Jet2 have leased a BAe 146, itβs hardly the correct aircraft for their operation, especially on the longer routes.
Flex 35
The Ryanair pilots should be better than the landings they perform at LBA then! Mind you Jet2 aren’t much better, the landings are usually pretty awful this side of the pennines ;).
Small runway, not much room for floating down trying to get a greaser. The B738 is harder to land smoothly anyway because of the more “unforgiving” landing gear structure.

We’ve got two more B757s which are due to join the fleet sometime towards the end of this month (AC and AD), so fingers crossed that’s when AA and AD will officially start operating from MAN. So far they’re only rumoured to be operating to ALC and PMI, but I reckon they’ll do a couple more routes than just those two….
Interesting. Any chance of them doing the Murcia or will that remain a B733?
Flex 35
Why do people keep spelling Mombasa with two S’s! It’s MOMBASA. The new MyTravel service is routing via London Gatwick.
Flex 35
We will eventually have two B757s based at MAN. So far they’re rumoured to be G-LSAA and AD.
When are they arriving and what routes will they be doing?
Cheers

Dublin’s not a problem but Rome Ciampino can be, particularly during the summer because of the heat and obstacles after takeoff. Icy runways are usually a recommened full power takeoff but you don’t want to use it whenever it’s not necessary to preserve the engines. Of course, some guys just like to give it some ‘welly’ occasionally; actually had passengers complaining once because of the resultant nose up angle was uncomfortable π Sorry won’t do that again so.
I could imagine that being the case at Rome Ciampino.
What is the maximum amount of passengers can Ryanair take on the B738? Is it the certified 189?
Cheers

Nice work! I was at MAN all day yesterday, fantastic weather (very warm!). Shame southside was as muddy as anything. π
Flex 35
They’re a mix of (a)24k with a 26k bump option and (b)26k rated.
The early versions are the 24k but 80% are 26k. The higher thrust is not usually necessary anyway with the weights we operate at. Of course, 24 and 26 are essentially the same engine, just a software difference…I think!
Yeah from Liverpool they can more or less always go with the full 22K thrust de-rate, not sure from Dublin if that’s the case?
Cheers
Flex 35
I guess the engine didn’t like the power requirement for the short runway at Derry.
Don’t your aircraft have 22K/24K/26K rated options?
Surely going full 26K thrust out of Derry would suffice?
