Thanks very much for your comments.

Edinburgh is certainly an interesting airport witha good mix of aircraft that kept me interested during the day.

    Nice photos.

That livery really suits the 737 – the present all blue is pretty awful in my opinion, but I really like that one.

As someone who has been self-employed for most of his working life, I
believe the people running the B & B, should have been free to impose
    whatever rules they like.

Just because you are self employed doesn’t mean you can pick and choose which laws you do and don’t follow.

If you wish to be self employed and run a business, you are subject to the laws that businesses are required to follow. If you decide to run a B&B you have to follow equalities requirements just like you have to follow safety requirements and employment legislation, for example. Or should B&B owners be exempted from those requirements as well?

I’m pleased that we have moved on from a world where businesses could and did actively discriminate against people – it isn’t something I would wish to retun to.

    Thanks very much.

Yes – some excellent work by the Police, who kept the hundereds (if not thousands) of spotters under supervision, but let us largely go where we pleased (landside).

    Thanks very much.

It was very noticable how many aircraft positioned out to Cranfield – it was probably the most popular destination from Luton that day. Some very short take offs as well!

    Edgar,

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree. Your sexuality is what you are born with – gay people don’t choose to be gay, just like heterosexual people don’t choose to be straight.

The B&B owners, however, chose to break the law. So they can’t complain when they get punished for doing so.

The issue here seems to be very clear – it is illegal for a business to discriminate against someone on the grounds of their sexuality. This business did, and so it was rightly found guilty.

If the business owners disagree with the law, then they should campaign to get it changed – just because they disagree with it, doesn’t mean they are exempt from it.

And don’t forget, the business owners have a choice over their religion. The victims of their bigotry don’t have a choice over their sexuality.

Tartan – it is very worthwhile visiting when you are passing. It had a wide selection of ga, biz jets and a few airliners to make it a very interesting airpor.

    A good set.

It is very sad to think that the superb BMI livery is going to be a thing of the past very soon at Heathrow – when I went to the airport a couple of weeks ago, already a few of what were BMI’s aircraft had already been painted into the BA livery.

It is also rather appropriate that you posted these pictures today, as BMI Baby’s last flight will be landing at East Midlands later tonight.

At least the BMI crews face a better future than their Baby counterparts. Does anyone know when the last BMI flight will be?

    Ted,

First of all, welcome to the forum.

Following the BA take over of British Caledonian, BA’s charter subsidiary British Airtours was renamed Caledonian. While the British Airtours livery was effectively the BA Landor livery with the ‘Airways’replaced by ‘Airtours’ in the airline name and the crest removed from the tail fin, Caledonian had a more radical redesign with the ‘Speedwing’ replaced by a yellow cheatline, and a yellow lion on the tail. It looked absolutely fantastic on the TriStar.

As you say, Caledonian only operated charter flights, albeit they did operate scheduled services to the Carribean for BA for a couple of years using DC-10s. They must have disappeared at about the turn of the century when the tour operated BA had sold the airline to was taken over itself to form JMC Air.
