Here,s another image,taken about 1 minute later.
Hi Tenthije,
The orientation of the first image is the actual orientation of the object as seen and photographed.i have actually imaged the eurofighter on 2 consecutive evenings this summer over coventry uk,and it looked like a eurofighter-complete with vapour trail and lots of noise!!
Cheers,Phil
Hi Hexpop,
Can you elaborate on your edge detection results, please? I did process the original image in Photoshop with USM,Levels, etc, but not too strongly. There is a kind of pink haze around the image, but i do not think it is chromatic abberation – maybe it is actually connected to the objects? White airliners i frequently image show no sign of any pink or purple haze around them, even in very bright sunlight.
Cheers,Phil
Hi Fulcrum-aholic,
I know what you mean.I used to scan the daytime sky with my zeiss 10 x 50 binoculars ,until i bought a decent camera. Two years ago, i was sweeping the sky, when i caught sight of a flickering light that was totally stationary for about 10 minutes- then it literally ‘jumped’ to a position about 2 degrees away in the same field of view.it wasn’t me shaking or jolting the binoculars, because my arms were locked on the armrests of my garden chair,it really did jump.
Cheers,Phil
Thanks for everyone,s interest!! The actual date and time of the sighting are:- May 29 2007 @17.52
camera used Canon EOS400D Digital SLR (10 megapixel -very high quality)
lens Canon 200mm F2.8 L (TOP OF THE RANGE)
Exposure 1/2500 second, ISO 200 , F5.0, Auto white balance, RAW
Obviously, any rocket launches can be cross-checked with these details.
I have retained the images on my mem. card ,and also have burned them on a cd.
Cheers,Phil
Hi kusch,
The ISS (International Space Station ) was not over my location at the date and time!! I checked the website http://www.heavens-above.com for this possibility.
Cheers,Phil
Notice the parallel positions of the objects. Also notice the shape of the bright, larger one .The dim one is exactly the same.
Cheers,Phil
hi almond,
the international space station moves quite rapidly across the sky, maybe as fast as an airliner in terms of degrees a minute.it usually looks like a bright steady white light, with no flashing beacons an aircraft would have.
in binoculars it still looks like a bright steady light!
best wishes,phil
image of iss+atlantis 10 june 07 @23.06.45s
hi everyone,
here is an image i took the other night of the space-station shuttle stack.it has been enlarged twice as much as the previous mystery object images.as can be seen,it looks like a bright slightly misshapen dot with nothing in the way of definite structure visible.please remember that this is the biggest and brightest thing up there, and it is also in a low orbit of 220 miles or so.
imaged with canon 400d dslr +200mm L telephoto.
1/1600 sec, f5.6 ,iso1600.
thanks,phil
channel islands pilot-ufo sighting
hi everyone
there was a major ufo sighting off the channel islands ,by 2 seperate civilian airliners 2 months ago.both aircrews estimated the size as more than a mile wide!!these are details that the one of the pilots revealed himself, not twisted words by someone else.
iss position on may 29 2007 @17.52
hi,
does anyone know where the space station groundtrack was on the above date and time.also can anybody let me know what satellites were passing over coventry , uk at the above time .i use the heavens-above website regularly, but it only lists nighttime passes for the iss.
i have been an amateur astronomer for 30 years.
thanks again,phil
iss theory
hi,
first of all,i have seen the iss on many occasions at night.it appears ,usually on a west to east track, and reaches a magnitude of about -2 to -3.in fact i imaged the iss with atlantis attached the other night and it looks like a small dot with no structure visible.
these so -called debunkers talk psuedoscientific garbage to explain things that are not explainable.i would like to ask any debunkers on this website to submit a photo of the iss+shuttle ,taken in daylight, with a dslr +telephoto lens similar to my setup,to compare thir images to mine.
thanks,phil(coventry uk)
watch the skies!!!
hi everyone,
i think every aircraft enthusiast on this forum should take time to scan the daytime sky whenever they get the chance, especially with binoculars and a good digital camera at the ready.
i have seen many things over the years that would qualify for genuine ufos, but never had my camera on hand.
maybe the mod or raf would take more notice of reports by people who can easily identify any ‘normal’ aircraft, than they seem to do at the moment.
i wonder where the military air defence radars fit into all this?maybe its all hushed up,or maybe these things can become invisible to radar.
hi everyone
thanks for your thoughts.when i analysed the original 10 megapixel raw(not compressed or altered in any way)images, what really struck me was the way the cylindrical shapes look like they are not connected to each other.in the first image you can clearly see the blue sky between the smaller white shape and the bigger shapes.also, the lack of sunlight reflections do not make sense when the sun was quite low at the time and other aircraft seen in the same area of sky were glinting.finally, the white shapes seemed to change position very rapidly from shot to shot(1-2 seconds gap).i think that this shape changing was the cause of the object flickering erratically.all images taken with a canon eos400d dslr +canon 200mm f2.8 L telephoto lens -worth £1000 in total. 1/2500 sec,iso 200,f5.
best wishes,phil(coventry uk)
more images of mystery object
hi everyone,
thanks for your interest!
the object was first seen at 17.52 british summer time,on the 29 may 07,at an elevation of about 75 degrees north, and flew steadily north-east,taking about 5 minutes to reach the horizon.the object was totally silent.
my own theory is that it is a genuine ufo,due to the imo self-luminous nature and flickering and structure and reddish purple vapour around the object.
it cannot be a satellite, because even the iss looks like a small dot in any enlarged image from my dslr and lens combination.
thanks again,phil.
