Good point about starting a new thread on this subject keeping Duxford Diary on song.
May I ask that all posts (recent) be moved then from DD to your new thread please?

Many valid points raised for varying reasons here and I think the main one is size. Commercial airliners are big but do they have to have an enclosed space (hangar) if we met the problem half way ie a covered area it would reduce costs and reduce wxx effects slowing down the need for remedial care.

There are going to be comments on How/Where etc etc but surely not insurmountable with a bit of forward thinking and planning?

I do so agree with sentiments displayed on these recent posts regarding painting and preservation etc.

So I feel I may have sympathy with a long term dream of mine…..

The Civil airliner group of aircraft denote the HISTORY of civil aviaition of those periods………..fact.

The Viscount WF once flew for British Eagle……..fact

The Britannia in Monarch livery VT flew just as long with British Eagle as it did with Monarch………fact

Goal………..To paint VT on it’s Port side in British Eagle livery which was and is iconic and important to history.
The Starboard side must remain in Monarch livery for the same reasons!

I do so hope that this meets with a positive response and sincerely hope to see the colours one day.

Odd isnt it? Just lost my brother in law a month ago, deep shock.
But I still mourn for people Ive never met like Alan Coren and Humphrey Lyttleton because they touch your lives.

    Thanks again for the pics
What impresses me apart from the work those chaps are doing on various aircraft, is the cleanliness of the hangar floors etc.Truly professional.

Filling in these types of forms is a nightmare.many just give up.
Immigrants/ and the like seem to breeze through these seemingly insurmountable problems………..how do they do it??? someone is helping them and I wish I knew who they are as I might ask them for help myself!

    Slight thread drift…………..

Any memories of British Eagle airlines friendly connections with HMS Eagle. I believe visits went back and forth in around 1966?

She was a beauty without a doubt. I remember flying from Gutersloh, Germany to Bardufoss in one back in ’65 for a winter exercise, 7 hours of sheer luxury.

I cant believe this Mike…..Im 99% certain that I was the Flight Purser on that very flight. I remember when we got to Bardufoss it was so cold the drips of water under the a/c from the drain pipes as long icicles! I would post a pic of me in uniform around that time but am embarrassed.

I trying to remember………but there was a flight like this I did with Richard Todd onboard…….was this one it??

I may have mentioned it before…….just finishing Richard Van Emdens book Tommys Ark. About animals in the First World War.

Its the only book Ive read that I didnt want it to finish. Every page is a true revelation….wonderful tales amongst so much hell.
If someone gets prompted to read it from this I would love to know if you enjoyed it half as much as me.
