Not nessecarily, many will take their cars they are staying in Swindon to make the journey shorter and get there nice and early. Also the hotels won’t be all booked by RIAT attendees, it is the UK summer so many people will be holidaying and while Swindon itself is not a great place it is very convenient for the surrounding countryside which is beautiful (Avebury, not too far from Stonehenge, Cotswolds an easy drive, uffington white horse etc etc).

Also its prime wedding time so loads of hotels will be full of those, so don’t imagine the world is going to RIAT from Swindon!

anothing thing started to wory me: rainings!
as i see in the statistic forecast, the chances to run into rains is about 30-50 precent!

what can i do if i wake up sunday morning and see havy raining which destrys my entire air show plan?! the chances are extremly high. and i already payed for the ticket(i think Riat is team up with god or the weather company to earn the money for rainy days), do they do a second show in case it has canceled on sunday? :S

so as i undesrstand, there’s two options(since all the hotels in swindon already run out!)

1. go from london/oxford the train araives at 8:45 to swindon(about the same time) and then wait to the bus hoping you wont need to wait for the next bus(lots of ppl) and mabe youll be after 10 in air tattoo so i might miss the first shows..

2. sleep in the hotel earlier, than go on the train which arives swindon in 0:40 on the day befre than just going around in the boring city till 7:00 o.k. in the morning..

is that all i can do? :S

The hotels themselves are lovely i’m sure but when you are bored of being inside there is nothing nearby other than Heathrow. If you want to go out in the evening or during the day you are 14 miles from the centre of London and your nearest big town centre is either, Hounslow, which I would avoid or Feltham, which is famous for a youth Prison and being a dump.

I just wondered if you realised. Going through Swindon is fine, just not a nice place to stay. If you want to stay nearby I would get a Bed and breakfast or hotel in Oxford. otherwise getting the train from Paddington and bus from Swindon is a good route.

oxford sounds fine but i don’t know how to get there to fairford and if theres way to get there early in sunday morning. i know the train option from englnd but as i sayed before if i go by train from england i’l be late in fairford! why? couse the sunday first train goes just in 6:46 and araive swindon in 8:45.. no trafic earlier!! is there earlier trafic from oxford to fairford?

is there orthodox church in oxford?

yes i’ve herd about doxfort, i belive this name, the graite antique musium and i’m considering to pop into there.. just remember as tourist i go buy bus-tub i have no car in england.. windsor castle sounds graite(theres tut to there?) if i’l have time, i want to be in hampton court palace first 🙂

and please dont talk about rainings.. it makes me creeps!

i had another idea to stay in a day or two spoting in the Marriot hotel or the Renesisance in fact.. it seems good spoting place which made for spotting, what do you think?

the British and American ones will likely be too busy actually fighting wars (or sitting in a hangar missing parts and pilots if they’re British).

lol but sometimes war is inavoidable against the terorists..

thanks for the help.. but i still don’t know where to start.. where is hatton cros station? is it good spoting zone? will i be able to catch the big aircraft like 380 of australia? i’ve herd thayre landing in 27L?..is it posible to see there the touch down?(you know, the fog which comes out from the geers)

what do the BAA do if they came? can they take the camera and arrest ppl for spoting? is there places they just ask questions but leting go after it when they see it’s okay and not making a big deal for spoting person?
