Excellent work mate, which regs did you get?

I’m not expecting fantastic weather on Wednesday, but it’ll be good to atleast get sunny intervals as you seem to have got there!

    Hi mate, great photos!
I take it the place you took the shots from is only good in the evening?
…and is there somewhere to park a car?

    Thanks!

Sorry, missed this reply after a very busy week! Yes the Sun is only good around the evening. You can start taking good shots around 4pm, but it isn’t really good til around 5-6pm.

There is about a 300 yard hedgerow running along the road where people stand, with plenty of room to park cars along the edge of the road!

Thanks for the kind comments guys, much appreciated!

Alex answered Peter’s question about the lcoation nicely.

Is it necessary to have a car to get round to the vantage point ? Or is
there public transport that takes you some of the way (like close enough to walk the rest comfortably) ?

    Woody

I’m afraid there is abolustely no public transport in sight. This spot isn’t even near a village or town at all, the closest you’ll get is the long stay car park and then it is still a good 3 mile walk along a 60mph (with most cars doing 80mph) narrow country road!

Cheers guys, much appreciated! Really looking forward to your eve at STN now Paul?! Should be a good’un….the light should also stay out long enough to catch the UPS 767’s moving (for about 2 weeks of the year sunset is late enough to catch one depart and one arrive….the rest of the year you’ll never see them move).

Excellent work mate, will be good to see what you can produce at STN in a few weeks!

    Sounds sweet!

How many days were you there, did you see any more of the island other than Maho beach?

What are prices like for things like booze/food/transport once you’re there? I’d love to squeeze it into my gap year next Spring….but can’t quite get my head round finances just yet.

Excellent work mate! So did you plan this with all the jp.net lot that you know from MAN etc?

If you don’t mind me asking…how did you afford it? Was it like “well its a once in a lifetime chance so why not spend a huge amount of money”? Were you staying in the Sonesta? I’ve heard that’s even more expensive than the flights!

I made good use of the sale!

On 31st July I am having a morning in Dublin…literally walk straight round in time to see all of the heavies arrive then depart, and head off again at lunchtime back home (saves sitting around for the rather tedious afternoons at DUB, and covers me a little if the weather is crap!).

4th September I’m taking a day in Dblin with my girlfriend, we had agood time the last time we ventured into the city.

17-18th September I am flying STN-DUB-MAN, doing an afternoon in MAN, thgn staying with Mark L in Leeds overnightand flying home LBA-DUB-STN the day after.

9th October flying over to Esbjerg (Denmark) for 2 days to see my girlfriend’s family who live there.

24th October I’m heading over to Bremen for the day! There’s a free viewing terrace, and an Airbus factory onsite which means almost guaranteed Beluga movements.

All of tose not to mention a daytrip to Gothenburg next Tuesday, a day in Milan next Wednesday, and a few days in Newquay during the Summer with some friends, which were all booked in the previous £10 single sale. And also 2 days in June with PMN, where we’re flying to Oslo one day, and then STN-ORK-DUB-STN the day after.

23 Ryanair flights in total! Can I do it 😮

This rather bad quality shot was taken by myself, an Aegean 734 being held off the ground in a hangar at Stansted.

It was pretty fun standing around underneath all those tonnes of metal, and sticking my head inside the gear bay. And you should hear the deafening crash they make when they swing them up and down, you’d never have thought the process was so loud 😀

Cheers for your kind comments guys, much appreciated! Was quite a successful hour or two, considering Sundays and afternoons are often the quietest parts of the week/day.

Just keep your fingers crossed for the weather now Paul, and preferably an Easterly wind (RWY05 has the advantage when it comes to photography locations, although 23 isn’t a total disaster).

Just to add on that third one…I think maybe a little extra blue in there to take away a little of that yellow hint, and will also add nicely to the KLM blue.

This is a shame, I’ve used the route 3 times (return). However, it was bound to happen, and after I flew on it on the 17th April I said it’d be any time now. Here’s a view from the cabin of the outbound flight…aside from my family there were 12 passengers on the flight http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5968484&nseq=26. Felt like a private jet!
