That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard! So whereas on a LCC you can buy something to eat if you’re hungry, on BA you’re going to have to sit there and have no choice but to starve?

Fair enough if I had a meal in Wetherspoons at the airport before hand I could easily last a 3 hour flight without needing more to eat. But what if a business man planned to have dinner in the airport, business meeting run late, got stuck in traffic on the way to airport and so had to rush through security with minimum time and get straight to gate. They might then have to sit there starving for 3 hours without even the option of something to eat?!

So much for a ‘legacy’ carrier.

Looks like A330-200 OY-VKF arrived in EGAA from EGKK at 1849. Currently filed to depart to KSFB at 1945. 60 min turnaround for an A330 full of pax and fuel maybe a little optimistic though?

Should this be up on iplayer do you think? If so I’ll save it for one of my night shifts this week…

no problem at all, he wouldn’t be in this shot would he?

if he wants any copies, PM me with an email address and I will send them over

    cheers

    Chris

Haha excellent! He doesn’t particularly enjoy the footie runs but I’m sure he’ll like the shot. A bit further back and you might even see the pax! I’ve PM’d you my work email….

Excellent work Lance, that Challenger looks sweet!

Carmedic, I know a captain who will be happy to see your shot of G-SPUR! You mind if I show him?

Superb shots! Did you catch any of our Mustang G-LEAI? Coulda jumped in for a free ride down to GVA if only I wasn’t working night shifts all last week.

Those Gulfstreams are lovely, I’ve sat in a few and the windows are just ridiculously big.

    1. Bangkok is a great city! 19 hours in the airport? I’d get a taxi to the Khao San Road for the night (45 min drive, approx £3 taxi) and join the party on the street with the rest of the backpackers and £1 beers! If you’re not too hungover make sure you sample some of the amazing food on the streets (about 50p a dish) and take a quick visit to the Grand Palace. The airport is very nice and modern, it had a few teething problems on opening but it’s better than most European airports I’ve been to. There is a pretty huge food hall in the airport as well with mainly Thai food and again quite cheap (why would you want a Burger King?!)

    2. I flew on Virgin Blue and Jetstar several times in Oz. Just the same as each other and probably on par with someone like EZY in the UK. Professional staff, clean planes but everything else you have to dip in to your pocket for. Jetstar also had a habit of running out of food after the first half of the plane, both times I was sat in the middle on one of their flights they’d run out by the time they reached me (wasn’t impressed on the 4+ hour sector Melbourne-Cairns!)

    3. I’ve done a lot of low-cost flying for fun and must admit it’s starting to get a bit tiring. Being right next to STN I’ve managed 130 Ryanair flights in the last few years. I’ve finally decided in the last month or so that in the future I can really only be bothered to fly now if I’m going with someone or somewhere for a purpose. Needless to say, long-haul flying tends to be no better. After the initial excitement of getting on board a big plane and messing around with the IFE, it all starts to become the same and you’ll soon just be excited about the destination. However, if you want to make the journey as pleasent as possible then I’d be swayed toward the A380. Economy seats are pretty similar whoever you fly with, but I found the A380 to be about the best organised cabin and most comfortable seating area that I’ve experienced on a wide body.

Nice work! These make me really want my PPL now, I love the charm and diversity of small GA airfields. Just need to nail the weather for my cross-country qualifier then I’ll be pretty much sorted! Cheers, Dan.

Where are you doing your PPL?

Just round the corner in Stapleford. If my cross-country qualifier hadn’t been called off 4 times I may well have had the license by now!

Superb work! North Weald is a really interesting airfield, I can’t wait to finish my PPL then move on to the North Weald flying group. Shall be pretty fun taxying out to the runway behind a Jet Provost!

Sad news, and the second time in a month that an aircraft I’ve once flown on has crashed. Aircraft was ex G-JEBC which I flew on in 2005 BHD-LGW, last month was the Fedex (ex-Delta) MD-11. Thoughts go out to all those concerned…

Excellent work Adam, nice to see that A340 out my bedroom every day!

I’d like to say I know my way round STN pretty well but even I can’t work out where those were taken….is it at the RWY05 hold on that big mound to the North side of the runway? I stood there for 5 mins once and got ‘stop-and searched’ by the police, have never tried it since.

Always great to see your work mate, atleast it’s almost guaranteed to be sunny in Alghero/Bergamo/Eindhoven in June!

Just a quick thought, with a 7hr connection would it be possible (allowed?) to fill out the 96hr visa forms, queue up for immigration, get a new stamp in my passport and then head back through security? Sounds a bit sad but it’d kill a couple of hours which would otherwise be spent doing nothing!
