I would… the Flug Werk aircraft comes as a kit, more or less the same way you ge a Vans kit. And it has to be assembed just lit a Vans… unless yo have Flug Werk put it together for you.
I could not agree more with Kenneth’s very informed writing.
re. EASA, there is a document named Annex II, that list all types of aircraft that remain under the “umbrellas” of national civil aviation authorities. They are micro-lights, homebuilts and vintage planes, and a few others. But that may not last. EASA is looking to revise Annex II… thank God, they do not have enough funding to do that this year.
Nothing, except they are new guys. Never been a real airshow there before ’cause the german airfield that was there during WWI is long gone. So they will make a grass runway 850 m long just for the show… or so they say on the website.
N500LN was NOT acquired from Red Bull, but from Duncan Baker. Engine troubles during a European pleasure trip prompted an egine chnge performed in Salzburg. Then 500LN was flown to Anoka County Blaine airport near Minneapolis, home base of Toni’s other Howard 500 and Grumman Albatross, and that is where 500LN was restored.
FYI it was not during display. This was not an airshow. The aircraft was departing back to base after an afternoon memorial flypast with other historic plane offer WWI battlefield where hundreds of Canadians soldiers lost their lives.
It is indeed intended for the airshow business. Wait until it received the jet engine under the central wing.
Why did they do that ? Because after a few beers in the back of a hangar, the guy that built the Sasquatch Jet Waco and his friends said… “Why not ? Let’s try it !”
is it me or is this the exact same plane, quasi-exact same time in the year, exact same location and exact same cause as on october 15th, 2013 ?

And same link for the news channel on the two different accident report page (the one printed on the first post, and this one above)…. weird ?
I do confirm that it was not a meeting or airshow. It was a open day by the local club, that Christophe Jacquard’s Sea Fury and Spitfire visited. Cedric Ruet was taking off to fly back to CJ’s homebase, Dijon-Darois. Cedric is back home with only a bruised rib. As for the Spitfire, time will tell what it will become, but we all know for sure that it will fly again.
I guess Grace would be only the operator… ?
There is no excavation at the end of the grass runway (shorter than the concrete one). Rather, owing to some construction of a new hangar just started, what has been a ditch for years is now being filled – this is what shows on the photos. If it had not be for those fillings, the Hurricane would have fall down the ditch, or rather what is the very steep slope of the hill. That is what happened to Yak-9 F-AZYJ some years ago, and it was very severely damaged.
Pilot just texted he is unhurt.
Was hoping that Boris would have brought over one of the MiG-3 he restored… 😉 Sigh…
MiG-3 ???? (or Yak-3 rather…. ?)
Thought it would be interesting to revice that old thread, specially re. the part concerning the last dogfight of WWII in the ETO. The “legend” says the last aerial combat of WWII in Europe took place on april 11th, 1945, with Duane Francies and his observer Martin shooting down a Fieseler Storch, using their Colt .45 from their Piper L-4H.
The story is seducing, but browsing through the 354th Fighter Group story, I read that P-51s from its squadrons had some aerial fights on april 16, shooting down 13 Fw 190, on april 17th, Capt Jack A. Warner shooting down a Me 262, on april 19, 20, 22 and 26 – this last day, Edward Bickford shooting two Fw 190D and Kenneth Wise one. Any imput guys ?
