Litterature in French always mention “18 juin 1940” as the nickname… but worth some more researching. The essential date still being june 18th 1940. That plane was accepted by the French Navy july 31st, 1945.
I have to correct the above, and myself by the same occasion; Nickname of the plan is “18 juin 1940”, date of the famous Charles de Gaulle speech on BBC radio.
France received only a few C-60 during war time. After wartime, the French Navy bought 6 PV-2 “Harpoon” but they were delivered in 1953.
Owing to the markings, it sure look like it is a french plane, and it also sure looks like a Ventura. The one french ventura that went to Indichina indeed.
As only one French Ventura served in Indochina in 1946 and 1947, as the liaison plane affected to Amiral Thierry d’Argenlieu, Haut-Commissaire of Indochina and commanding officer of the French Navy for the Far East. It was a plane from Escadrille 6FE transfered to 8FE in Indochina. Its number was 29819, it was christened “Le 18 juin” and it was based in Saïgon-Tan Son Nhut.
Actually it does not “revert” to F-P… the F-Pxxx regustration is the one “reserved” for the plane. But before being allowed to carry it fully, the plane must comply to a test flight program. While doing test flights, it is mandatory that it carries the F-W… registration, indicative that it is doing test flight under special permission and has not been granted yet its definitive certificate of airworthiness.
Stranded in Salzburg for the whole winter, until both engines replaced by new ones.
Jean-Pierre has a business in Dole, on the airport, dealing mainly AFAIK with avionics and maintenance. I know that the center section of the Corsair has been there for a while. Just do not know if it has notbeen moved since.
Hallgeir, would it be possible that you write for us a sum up of the article in english ?

As for the FJ-4B, Dr Rich Sugden (owner-pilot) called it on the radio, while half way down the runway, that he had lost the brakes and was going to over-run. So the cause seems pretty clear for this one.
“authentic replica”… I like that !
Not Continental engines, but Potez engines.
Not the A-1E, but the AD-4N.
TFC bought the “front end” of 6-18.
A QEC is a good chunk of a Sea Fury, no ? :diablo:
