Could not figure why he maintained the YAk slip-sliding close to ground… then that little stone wall sprung into the view. Well done cold bloodded job.
Well, if you read Dr. Price’s Hardest Day, there are several accounts by RAF pilots who bailed out or even belly landed about them having to prove to very “excited” Home Guard members or even armed local farmers that they were RAF pilots despite there uniform showing that… So one can easy imagine that a polish pilot may have succombed to that. Specially when a rumor is going around that german parachutists invaders are spreading out after a raid, having taken the look of priests…
Graham, only the last sequence of the youtube movie shows the real plane (onn he ground). The first part show an RC model (see difference in details specially on the tail). It was uncovered as an hoax (albeit very well done) a couple of days after it was aired on youtube. No CGI involved there.
Actually, it is insured with a british company…
Sue Parish too, ex-WASP, co-fonder with Pete Parish of the famous Kalamazoo Air Zoo, famous for flying her pink P-40, then her pink T-34.
Final price was 506 000 dollars, and that is not including premium. Buyer remained anonymous –*he bidded by telephone.
So, which one got the identity… ?
Was flown in trail with Buchon, with a gagle of Spitfire in background doing their stuff.
The rule, as of now, is not to do any manoeuvers in the vertical. Leon mathis did indulge himself ina couple of barrel rolls, includin two in a row. It has been flown up to 600 km/h during test flight, but there is still much to be discovered as it is virtually a prototype. So caution is the word of the day and will remain so for many monthes. You have to be concious that this one plane has so far flown more hours than the two one assembled and flown by Flug Werk put together. So guess who is ironing out all teething problems… ?
Marc ‘Leon’ Mathis landed safely the FW 190 monday in La Ferte-Alais. Landing gears to come appart again, as more trouble showed…
French P-51D, P-40, Spitfire and FW 190 took off from La Ferte Alais this early afternoon heading to DX.
Guys, your nerves will be fried at the next Legends at those Horsemen will be three this time !
Forget about it, too much to be reworked, and not only electrical things.
French Sea Fury F-AZXL is scheduled to appear.
Yes Buddy 😉
Arrving from Dijon on tuesday, the FW 190 had a total electric failure. It diverted to a nearby long runway, Bretigny sur Orge. Was flown to LFA friday mid-day, gear extended. Electric problem was solved, but a thorough check and discussions with the two german pilots who test-flew the FlugWerk assembled ones prompted a decision to ground the plane and proceed to “better” some part of it.
It is very unlikely that it will appear at Legends, as of today.
