Et il vole quand ton tagazou ?
One some articles I read about the subject, aniel Roche says the engine he found is a R-2800… something wrong there no ?
None of the above… a very long term restoration.
The author, know in France as a TV presentator (always so cheap popular shows) and can not be qualified as a serious historian. In his book, he present no evidence at all, nothing, no reference to any document, report or whatsoever… and we are trying to find out if Rippert wrote down any claim for a victory on an ennemy (I think that any german pilot that would have shot down a P-38 would have bragged about that… ?) on that fateful day. It has to be reminded that when asked, the Luftwaffe always said that no ennemy plane was shot down in that sector that day…
There has been no official statement from the FTV organisation.
As of now, they are looking at incoming airshow bookings to see if they can balance the year financially. Mechanics are hard at work every tuesday in Melun, and have been working at replacing an engine for the last weeks.
They called it Yak-3UPW in fact, PW for P&W…
Jacquard’s could fly end of next year. He recently increased workforce.
There are talks of an evening display on the saturday with all available WWI and earlier stuff…
No worries Dennis. They are still in the planning phases, and still need to raise the needed money.
Already in Freiburg-am-Brisgau 😀
Not really old news… when the plane appeared at Nellis it was already in “new hands”. The Aeroplane mentionned the project. And I got confirmed today by Simon Brown, head of Provenance Fighter Sales (the “new” owner) but who wrote they were still in the planning phase.
The flight of Fury GCBEL on the 18th November 2006 was a routine local fllight, including aerobatics over Tarrant Rushton. The aircraft is an FB11, and any rumours of its sale and export to a foreign base are quite untrue . The blue exhaust smoke is normal for a big radial, but was exacerbated on this day by a long and tortuous taxi back to the hangar after landing.
No rumour according to new owner who I talked to on the phone only days ago. Unless the sale was broken…
Never heard that paint was making airplane fly… 😉
There will be not repaint. At least not in the immediate futur.
Was in PH-PBA for the Schipol-Le Bourget flight.
Both PH-BBA and F-AZTE have been painted in the same “double livery” : right side KLM, left side Air France. F-AZTE was a decoy for the short speech by KLM and Air France president after PH-PBA landed in Le Bourget ; she shall be use next year for a “moral booster” tour of the Air France / KLM main bases.
