The Z3 looks ok, but is it any good in foul weather? and for an extra £200 I could have the DSLR with lense. Oh this is confusing!!

    Hi DME,

Sorry I can’t personally help you, but I think £300 is probably pushing it a bit for a DSLR set-up. For a decent lense (to make it worth having a DSLR) you can get something like I’m using, the Canon 75-300mm USM which is gonna cost you atleast £100 (£120 new). The you’ll need something like an 18-55mm for normal photos (75mm is too much in some situations, you need a small lense too). You can pick them up for around £50 second hand. That then leaves you just over £100 for a camera (if you stick to your £300 mark) which I feel is quite unlikely. But you never know, someone may be interested in the part exchange with the GPS!

If you can’t find a way to get the DSLR set-up, I recommend one of the Minolta range. Something like the Minolta Z3 (http://www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk/minolta-dimage-z3-digital-camera-deals.htm) has a large zoom which is enough for most situations, and the camera in general has a very good spec. It’s also good to get started on. The features on a DSLR can take a lot of getting used to if you haven’t had much manual control over a camera before.

    Good luck!

Thanks very much for the pointers.

I was willing to spend £300 on the camera with upto a 55mm lense and pay extra for the larger lense.

Someone has offered me a 300D with 55mm lense for £325, but she wants me to pay direct and I’m a bit dubious if I’d ever see the camera 🙁

Ben, I think you are looking at the extremes of punishment?

It annoys me that folk who keep re-offending are let off or put into schemes to help them on in life, the impression the offenders are giving me is fuc$ this I’m getting money for nothing, going out getting wrecked and lovin’ it. I’d like to see more money spent helping the ATC, sports initiatives etc

It would be very interesting if money was taken off of them, and say their parents gave them nothing. What would happen to them then? They’d be moaning, oh it’s not fair why should I have to….. blah, blah etc. Get a job!

I got a job at 16 used to go to Pubs at that age with my mates who were on £50 a week, I used to sub them, help them out with things, did I ever get the money back? No, they just expected me to help them. One of them is 25 now, still at College with a kid – any extra money he gets he spends it on Bevvy, not on his kid, not owing anyone back!

I think I’m no Angel, but I do know right from wrong. I have two younger brothers, 14 and 11, from the same parents, brought up in the same house, same discipline, same privileges. Wonder what they will end up like? Will they know right from wrong? If they go wrong I certainly will ‘steer’ them the right way.

The artwork looks like it was completed by Ralph Steadman?

Looks O.K., not the best though.

I’m going and I’m trying to convince myself to spend £300 that I don’t really have on a Camera!

I’m leaving GLA on 18th, BA1802 at 06.40, stopping into BHX then onto CDG with arrival at 11.10

Returning from CGD on 19th, BA1807 at 16.20, stopping into BHX then onto GLA with arrival at 18.40.

    All on a 146/RJ – 1st time on one!

LFC24, are you going? I’m sure it’ll be a good weekend

    Hi,

you can take flying lessons from any age, I’d say the earliest would be 12 or 13. Any younger and you may have problems seeing out of the thing.

You have to be 17 before you can go solo though – or is it 16 you can solo but not take your skills test until 17? Something like that.

And which Labour MP’s got this delightful trio pregnant?

‘It’s the Government’s fault,’ ‘it’s the school’s fault,’ ‘I was bored,’ my friend got a baby and it wuz cute so I wanted one.’ You know who I feel sorry for? The kids. What chance have they got now. There’s bigger age gaps between siblings than between mothers and daughters. Still, £600 a week isn’t a bad living is it?

Heaven forbid that anyone should ever suggest it might have something to do with parenting skills, or the lack thereof.

Banning hoodys? Why ever not? There’s something very strange about a section of society who want to hide their faces. Is it because they fear identification? Makes it harder for people to recognise them? They have something to hide?

No, of course not, it’s a fashion statement (?). In much the same way that armed robbers wear masks or motorcycle helmets.

    Regards,

I really don’t see anything wrong with folk wearing hoodys. I knew some evil BXXXXXXS, they just wore average stuff and never harmed ‘normal folk’.

People who fear Hoodys are strange, do they have nothing else to fear than a fabrication? Most fights happen at the weekend when everyone is pi$$ed and think they are Gods gift to the world – no point in being scared just beacuse of what someone is wearing.

We’ve all got it easy, only 3-4 generations ago we would have really had to look over our shoulder for some German ready to show us a 6 foot hole!

We demand freedom, but how far is it o.k. to go? I want a kid at 12, so who the hell are you to stop me attitude is dangerous. If they can’t afford them, don’t have them!

I feel I’ve missed it, since I’ve flown in the Shorts 360, Jetstream 41 and 31, SAAB 340. I’ve been in the Islander but not flown in it, the Otter is on my cards, so it leaves the ATP.

Would probably be cheaper to fly GLA-LPL on FlyBes Dash 8-Q400 then LPL-IOM return on Emeralds ATPs on a day trip – 2 types, 4 flights! Thats once the flybes go 2x daily next month!

Ah, cheers for that. I’ll check it out.

Something in me wants it to be a BA livery though
