Quite a few aircraft in the 19 seat range are certified to fly single pilot, i.e. in their type certificate a minimum crew of one is stated. Aircraft I can think of are:
Dornier DO-228
Fairchild Metro
Twin Otter
etc.
These aircraft are/have been flown single pilot in the U.S and elsewere. For Europe this is not the case, as anything operated on an AOC with either turbine power or pressurisation has to be flown with a two man crew. For Europe, basically the only thing that can be flown single pilot on commercial operations is the piston stuff.
Highland Airways fly a Britten-Norman Islander with 1 pilot in Scotland (in AW this month).
What a wealth of volunteers we had then. These days people are a little more reluctant to seize the poisoned chalice.
Moggy
How are the nominations going? I imagine more people would accept after being nominated than volunteering themselves.

104 for me. It is frustraiting when it throws in planes directly into the flight path of others, giving you no hope of changing a routing!
If I was still living in the UK I would be a lot more disappointed. I really enjoyed Friday Night. The thing about it was: it was fun. He engaged with the guests in an entertaining manner that they all responed to. He interviewed the biggest entertainers (film, music etc) in the world and a lot of ‘other’ folk (sports, political etc) and they all looked like they were having a good time. You often find out more about them that way by some dull and droll “so what is your next book/film/song going to be called” Parkie……
I’m just glad I’m not still there in case I had the missfortune of switching on to that (borderline) intollerable Norton present. Does he not already have a chat show anyway?

IMHO More chance of developing Tracey Island than Boris Island.
Now THAT, I would put money towards!
In their defence, this is the first ever time it has snowed in the UK and people have not yet had the opportunity to learn how to deal with it like many other countries have.
Oh, wait……
Thank you both.
Sounds like time this thread is moved to General Discussion 😉
arriving at San Diego 1980, LAX 1980
Excellent Rob, cheers very much!
Why is it that all Aer Lingus international flights go through Shannon?
Brilliant!
Ok look without creating a shopping list all of us need to start discussing what it is we want changed/implemented/discussed yadda yadda. I’m not saying you’ll get your way but I can suggest it, I have a consensus say on certain matters but that is all the power I have I’m afraid.
I may not post as much as others, but I check the site daily so I’m still going to have a say 😀
Piggy-backing off others idea’s and summarising:
1) Re-shuffle of mod’s – perhaps a revote or re-allocation by Key?
2) Request for a more active and recognisable webmaster that is more approachable and responsive?
3) Re-shuffle of the forum layout i.e. the way CA is split up – perhaps it shouldn’t be?
4) More accepted input by members – perhaps regular polls when valuable suggestions are made? After all, it is the members who keep this site going, maybe it should be more of a democracy 🙂
