James Bond is a bit like Doctor Who – the one you grow up knowing is the one you like most. For me, Sean Connery was the best, with Daniel Craig a close second, followed by Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton. George Lazenby looked the part but wasn’t charismatic enough and poor Roger Moore was wasted on the scripts he was given.

Before I opened this thread, that is the first thing that came to my mind. People cringe at who the new Doctor is/may be, but a lot of the time it is because they are used to a particular one. After spending time with a new one, they become more accustomed to them.

Daniel Craig, the best bond?, that’s not even funny, no class, no charm he just comes across as a thug. might as well have got Bruce Willis to do it.
The names Bond, James Bond, Pal:rolleyes:

Well said Bruggen – all the things that make Bond, Bond are missing from DC – he has no humour, charisma or sophistication. After Casino Royale I really have got no interest in seeing the latest one.

As has been said, I think the whole point of Craig is that he is Bond at the beginning. Rough around the edges before all the experience (and ladies!). Think Batman Begins – a darker, more edgy look into the early days.

I unfortunately grew up in the Brosnan era. Where as he certainly had the humour and charisma, I never ranked him as high as my nations own Sir Sean. I think I prefer Craig now though, I love his ‘no nonsense’ attitude.

The problem is that your opinion makes it very clear that you reagard prank phone calls to elderly people with the intention of taunting them about the sexual activities of their grand children. A disgusting act irrelevent of age, only a poorly educated hooligan would support such an idea and in no way is it a ‘new sort of comedy’.

Your sense of morality and social responsibility is clearly misguided. I assume that you will be throwing eggs at a nursing home tonight just for the comedy value?

Can you please not attempt to generalise myself and my behaviour based on one remark on a topic, in a forum, where the outlying goal is to observe other people’s contributions? I don’t appreciate being victimised because I was the one who chose to express my opinion, out of others on this forum and countless more who are not part of it.

This is the last I am going to say on the matter, as it is against the CoC to have an argument in the open forum and I do not want to be moderated 🙂

    Exactly,
Exactly. I can only assume that symon believes it is also his right to put fireworks through peoples letter boxs.

Slight over exaggeration perhaps? All this boils down to is opinions, opinions, opinions. Perhaps I’m just from a generation that has become more accustomed to a ‘new’ form of comedy. I know for definite that the media has vastly broadened the range of what some 18-30’s consider ‘shocking’ and ‘disturbing’. Perhaps if you look at the demographic of those who officially complained, it might reveal that the majority all lie within an older generation and perhaps this may be because they have grown up with a set of different values. This wouldn’t be the first time (and it certainly won’t be the last) that a figure in the media has caused controversy due to a comment or act made towards an individual.

I respect your dislike of the issue and seeing as this is a good natured internet forum, all I ask is that you appreciate the fact I have a different opinion. The extensive divide on the topic clearly shows that there are a lot against the incident and a lot that were not fazed by it.

Or maybe the rumour that there are two is true!:diablo:

I remember them saying that there was a 2nd airframe partially built but sitting dormant and that they were planning on finishing it. Is this it? Or if it isn’t, is the 2nd one still going to be built?

Welcome back and congrats on the successful op. Have they spoilt your fun by saying you can’t have anything too fatty (read: tasty)?

Did no one’s elders ever tell them “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”? :p

It may be dross to some (or most), but unfortunately these broadcast companies have to put out shows that they think will appeal to the masses at the correct times. The majority of the British public clearly show that the X Factor is what they want to see – as a result of ratings. If anyone has a problem with that; read a book, change the channel or go to the local for a few jars!

This thread is nonsense anyway, Diana was always going to win!

    Hehe,

Sorry Bristol, just a cake related reference to the video game ‘portals’, I couldn’t resist, although it is a little off putting that I’m the only one who get it 😮

How did they get your photo on the cake, printed it on rice paper or something

I got it! Great game it is.

Can normal, household printers run off prints on icing sugar like that?:p

Queueing and mild casual alcohol-fuelled violence are what we do best!

    Paul

I do love the amount of times I’ve been abroad and found myself queuing for something (as if by second nature), only to see that the ‘natives’ are just piling on in!

I’m part of the “what is all the fuss about?” gang. If nothing else, there are worse things going on in the world and there are more important things people should/could be doing than complain about something they’ve not even heard/seen (although yes, everyone is entitled to freedom of speech).

I think the worst thing is (from Brand/Ross’ POV), is that Sach’s knew about the calls before the show was broadcast and gave his OK for a selection of clips to be aired in his absence. Then what happens? Some talented (to some (including me)) entertainer had to lose his job because people were jumping on a bandwagon?

Anyway. If there was one thing that made me laugh more than Clarkson’s original “lorry driver” gags on episode 1, it was his blatant refusal to publically apologise about it on episode 2!

No, tax avoidance, a subtle and legal difference!

If this is the case, why doesn’t pretty much every private owner put their aircraft on the manx register? Or are there strict application protocols?

Day Trip to the States with Ryanair

Ryanair set for £8 flights to US

Budget airline Ryanair is to offer flights to the US for eight pounds, by buying planes from struggling rivals.

The plan will be revealed when chief executive Michael O’Leary announces the firm’s quarterly results on Monday.

“Economy class will be very cheap, around 10 euros, but our business class will be very expensive,” he said in a newspaper interview.

Ryanair’s second quarter profits are expected to fall, due to higher fuel prices and its decision to cut fares.

Mr O’Leary is expected to announce plans to buy more than 50 extra aircraft, as part of plans to beat the recession by undercutting more expensive rivals.

“We’ll just have to keep flying more aircraft, opening up more routes and offering people more cheap flights,” Mr O’Leary said.

MO’L at it again! It’s been discussed on here a fair bit – Ryanair’s plans to get us all over to the States on the cheap. So here’s the latest – £8 for a ticket (plus another couple hundred in additional charges no doubt).
