Can someone remind me please, is OpenSkies a business only airline or is it just BA operating long haul out of London?
Are the ACTUAL fares going up also?
Or does this mean that if you don’t need any of the “add-ons” (baggage, check in, priority) then you are still getting the same low fares (plus taxes ;)) – a small positive surely!
(I know, I know, you shouldn’t have to pay for the add-ons in the first place but….)
If the chav was going to be paying the same as the enthusiast, then I would have no qualms selling it to him!
Having finally crawled into bed at 4am I was back up at 7 to walk up to the airport. Am I crazy or what
You should have stayed in bed 😉
Only joking….great photos, thanks for posting.
Great pictures, thanks.
Couple of questions….anyone know where ZK-SUH’s stripes have gone? And is the AF T7 one of the new aircraft picking up passengers for the US due to the open skies?
Quite sad another British company is going to be run by a foreign company but Lufthansa are a clever company so no doubt they will keep it on track and do good things with it!
Great shots. I’m confused though, what’s the deal with the EI aircraft register? I thought EI was for Irish registered aircraft, yet BP is an Italian airline?
This has been cleared up before but I forgot 🙂
I think he meant that Aloha never operated the 717 (according to Wiki and Ailiners)
I have done it, though I suggest you find an English speaking friend to tidy up the English a little bit
I know LHR is running at around 99% capacity or there-abouts, but is it still possible for new airlines, that aren’t affiliated to any alliances, to obtain slots? Or can this only happen if an airline (for some reason) withdraws some slots. Reason I ask, is that over the past few years, several Asian/Indian/Middle East carriers have started serving LHR and how did they manage to do so?
I’m very much for a 3rd runway and further expansion at LHR, so that we (Britain) can remain to be a key player in global transport and logistics.
So why didn’t BA do that ? Why didn’t they transfer just the domestic services first of all, or the long haul or just a small mix of both ? Once again BA would rarther emerse itself in another public relations disaster. How many times will they treat their customers to a display of contempt and arrogance like this? Will they have any customers left in a year or two ?
There have been numerous airports within the past decade or so (mostly SE Asian that spring to mind, switching from mainland to man-made offshore) that have switched from one WHOLE airport to another, never mind terminals – and they managed to get things more or less right. Considering ‘trial runs’ were conducted, BA & BAA have let themselves down after this feck up.
Nope
What a complete joke this country is, in more ways than one, can you see this happening in Paris? or Sydney? or the Americas? what a shambles, what a laughing stock, I am ashamed to be English, the sooner I can emigrate to Australia the better.
Millennium Dome, Millennium Bridge, Wembley Stadium, the list goes on, I can’t wait for the Olympics, the morons in charge of all these projects should be shot.
Even us Scotts aren’t guilt free, with the shambles of the Parliament building.
Have the problems been resolved yet? Is it now operating “efficiently”?
No-one has yet answered what I thought was a perfectly reasonable question:
If you feel that this incident was acceptable, then how many times would firearms have to be accidentally discharged inside the cockpit of an airliner before it becomes UNacceptable?
I’m not interested in the politics or the “pro-” and “anti-” posturings, just a number and (preferably) a rationale.
Like most situations in aviation history, I would say a firearm would have to be discharged accidentally enough times before a serious incident occurs. Because let’s face it, that is usually when people’s ears perk up and things are done/changed.
I’m with WD on this one, I believe if regulations permit and he has carried out the REQUIRED TRAINING, then he is in his own right to further protect the civilians on board by carrying a weapon should it help prevent hijack. With regards to the locked door issue, what IF, the Captain/SFO/FO were to be the hijacker? Controversial I know, but worst cast scenario the pilot flying would have to protect himself within the ‘secure door’.
Anyway, regardless, it was very careless that the gun went off as it did and perhaps he should be one pilot that is not allowed to carry a gun for a while.
Sounds like a great trip so far! I’ve been to Phoenix before, appropriately named! Closest place to hell (temperature wise) that I’ve ever been to!
LCY? 😀
