so I agreed to go back for another week.
Not in a million years would I ever consider working for such a sham of a company.
Sorry, this may just be me being stupid here, but did you say you ARE going back to work for Aviance, but you don’t like how BA run things in the baggage area?
I haven’t flown with BA that much in the past. The first time I did, for a long time before that, was this New Years and so I wasn’t exactly surprised my bag hadn’t reached the destination – especially since I was connecting through Heathrow.
It’s not often you hear of a schedule involving the A380 being brought forward and not pushed back 😮 😉
To be honest, I dont like the Singapore livery on the A380. I wonder whether that is because the livery is too big for the aircraft or vice-versa, or maybe it is just this particular image itself…anyone else have the same feeling at all?
Does anyone know what the first flight routing will be, and when will tickets be available for purchase for the first flight from LHR?
I concur! It just looks too big and blocky? I think the lettering is too big and/or could be in a nicer style. Anyway, personal opinions. 😎
I was under the impression that the first routing would involve a Singapore-Sydney trip?
Whenever an incident on this scale happens I always have difficulty getting my head around it. How these beautiful machines I spend so much of my life observing and travelling on end up being the centre of such horriffic scenes of destruction is in a little beyond me.
Safety issues are more evident as aircraft like A380 come into service. We have all seen the devastation 747 incidents can cause (namely the JAL 747D tail stabiliser/mountain incident and the Tenerife collision) and it doesn’t bare thinking about what may happen with any A380 incident.
Alas, it is very sad news and again my thoughts with those families affected.
Cases like this are especially damaging for the industry as (based on speculation) it may not be the aircrafts fault yet it is bad press for air travel.
Congratulations, what a superb moment for you. Few things beat that mix of relief and excitement when you get something you have been working for. I look forward to many of those moments when I officially enter the aviation career!
Thanks for providing those pictures! It gives me the same feeling as watching a trailer to a movie I really want to see…..I know its going to be good and want to see a preview of it, but I’m scared if I do it will take away some of the excitment of the whole thing 😀
It’s a beautiful plane and will look even better when painted. I think everyone needs to remember it’s not built to look good and impressive – part of the appeal of the A380 – it’s built to fly well and cleaner. I think unfortunately this will be lost on the majority of the general public who will also consider it to be “just another plane.”
Ah, ok, thanks for that. I knew jet engines were around for models e.g. the model A380’s, but I just assumed they would be axial turbo-fans also – of course on a much simpler scale!
Im genuinly unaware of their practices under these circumstances, but it seems to be Airbus have been saving up a lot of orders just to announce them here? Is this (generally) the case?
welcomed progress by Airbus… i do wonder what EK plans to do with THAT many 380s.
Park some up on one of the Palm Islands and use them as luxury hotels 😀
McDonalds trial new aircraft drive-through service at Schiphol Airport.
The last shot of the Jet2 757 is indeed a corker – looks so menacing at that angle. I like the ScotAirways shot also, I love the 328 props/jets.
Shots of the Dash 8 like that always perplex me, it just looks weird that they don’t have fuselage mounted main gear and it always seems as though the undercarriage hasn’t come down properly and its going to fall
I enjoyed reading it when I was home and also had a subscription. Admittedly, some of the news articles were ‘old news’ to me as I had read them on these forums. However, to be fair, I am so keen in aviation that every article in the magazine interested me to some extent and every article had some snippit of information I could take away. Alas though, I have not found any English copies while I am here in Germany but will take up another subscription when I’m home in Sept. Oh! And I guess that means I have not seen the new look…..which is what the thread was about :p
One for sorrow!
Although……not in this case! Very fine selection, good job! I like the rotating easterns: Etihad, Singapore and especially the Qatar for that lovely c/s.
