very clever in how they used the union jack on the tail
now now, the British flag is only refered to the “Union Jack” when it is at sea, all other times it is purely the “Union Flag” π The things you pick up in Scouts eh…
I love the old AirNZ liver on their DC-10’s
Caledonians on the L1011
I quite like bmi’s new livery, but dont think that will be too world recognisable
Virgins c/s will stand out where ever it goes though
certainly will not go into the book of “classic liveries”
what will in your (or anyones) opinion (full fleet ones, not special c/s)?
I think BA Landor will always stand out as recognisable. although not very inventive, it traveled the world. Of course AA wonderful scheme as well.
Those are fantastic pictures. Just as interesting, or even more so than the ones we get today! That Braniff 742 is awesome!
Probably either the 744 or the L-1011, both look so sleek and elegant
indeed, what works at one size doesnt work at another…..unless you change the gas your in!! effects are not scaleable.
Remember Barnes Wallis created βHighballβ which was a dimpled spherical design β similar in appearance to a golf ball β to use as a ‘bouncing bomb’ against axis forces in WWII. Showing that golf ball principles could be used on a larger scale to improve aerodynamics. Of course this couldnt be applied to aeronautics, but im just pointing out that scaling does work.
There is (and has always been) a huge effort put into scaling techniques and there is research everywhere. The simplest idea being wind tunnels? Scale models are analysed in conditions similar to large scale conditions and as such improvements can be made judging on similar effects.
Ask me that in a month and I might be able to tell you π
problem with composites is that defects more often than not occur beneath the visible layer, and fibres start to rupture where not visible. as a result, it will take some time to analyse the integrity of sections.
i know composite “tapes” are a ready solution to ‘patching’ faults but im sure there are more permanent solutions that will require more time to apply.
wow, thats a quik flight! π nice work again, if time permits – keep them coming!
very nicely put together, and a fitting song. well done once again!
Are you mixing it up with “Amarantine”, by any chance? π
probably
‘Adiemus’ by Karl Jenkins
is it not Enya – Adiemus?
wonderful shots once more steph! how do u think the big birds evac tests will go?
though never been a keen concorde fan (dont get me wrong, i still think shes magnificent), i loved that video. well done, nice piece of work
Steve and his friends soon realised their rain dance had gone horribly wrong.
